So I had an idea a little while back, but before I start in I want a little more to go on.

The idea, as it currently is, is to have about 500 points of my guard army be my engineers, led by a tech priest. At the moment this means replacing every sergeant's chainsword with a lego wrench (fits perfectly), giving a number of them shotguns, and repainting their BDU's, though leaving the flak armor the same color.

What I need is more. This conversion will look cool, but it is lacking in amount. This is roughly 2 squads of guard, maybe a few more with some simple conversions, but I want them to be really engineer'y so I look to dakka dakka for inspiration. How can I make these guys a lot more of engineers. Just note vehicles are mostly off limits, I'm not buying any new ones or modding any old ones. The only things to work with are the two unassembled Valkyrie Kits I have (been saving them for this occasion.

I would actualy make a whole army of these guys it would be really cool. I would try to give a nuber of them robotic arms and other inplants. Make some heavy weapons squads by converting sevitors to have auto cannons, morters and the like and have them be maned by guardsmen. include some servitors in your units. try mixing in some steel colleters Iguard steel legion. buy gears of varyus sizes to glue where ever possible and have loads of vehicles.

please send me pics through P.M.

Hmm, as a combat engineer I don't think I looked particularly distinctive lol, but what could add a little flavor on models?
Maybe detail your bases with barbed wire... Carry big packs that could be stuffed with all kinds of demo... make some things that look like small wire spools to put on packs/vehicles... A couple of guys with bangalore torpedo sections would be awesome.

Combat engineer units should be festooned with random kit. torches, explosives, cutting equipment, plasma torches, more explosives and maybe some kind of baggage vehicle, a-la Stargate SG!

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

You could also give them snubbed - nose rifles, my guard are urban/engineer and i gave them smaller rifles by smoothing off the lasgun top and taking off most of the barrel and adding a scope. I also smoothed off the helmets to make them look like skateboarding helmets and I added ammo packs and melta bombs. Gas masks are good too along with lots of crouching sets of legs.

Okay, I've been on a bit of a hiatus 2011-14

Currently working on my Riot Guard.
