I have been going over the rules for plasma weapons and just wanted to know if you have to roll the scatter dice for the plasme cannon because it is a blast?
If so it seems to make the cannon less effective and probably better to take something alse cheaper like a missile launcher with a higher strength but lower AP.

Yes, first you roll a d6 to see if the plasma cannon gets hot. on a 1, take a wound (all regular saves allowed), and the gun does not fire that turn. On a 2+ roll the scatter dice w/ 2d6, reducing scatter by your BS. Easy-Peasy.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

I have never seen an order that you do it in.
So I usaly roll 1 red d6 for the gets hot, 2 white dice and the scatter dice at the same time.

Page 31, FYI:
Blast weapons do not roll to hit, so you must always roll a D6 before firing a Gets Hot! blast weapon to check if the weapon overheats.

Well I guess that would work too really. I mean if you roll a 1 on your red dice, then you take your save and ignore the shot.

Quick follow up question: Do you still roll gets hot for dreads? On a 1 you don't take a would but can't shoot the PC that turn.

I always thought a 1 still prevented them from firing plasma blast weapons, they simply didn't take any damage, but after looking it up it seems that you're right. Thanks Mr. Mondo!

I thought they get to shoot still even if they get a 1? unless it says they can't in the book whihci woulda missed... xD
