This is my first Ork list. Going for an feral Ork feel here. Lots of screaming greenskins running across the board with a few speciality units and big killy unit in a Battlewagon..

HQ:
Warboss (Lhok'ar) Combi-Scorcha/Powerklaw/Bosspole/Cybork/Eavy armor/Attack Sqig

Big Mek with KFF

Elite:
12 Commandos with 2 burnas and Stinkrot (I really like the sneaky backstabby Orks)

5 Lootas

Troops:
8 Nobs in Eavy armor with Painboy and a Combi scorcha/War banner (Warboss and Big Mek in this unit)
Battlewagon - Red paint/Deffrolla

19 Slugga boys with one big shoota and Nob with PK/BP

19 Slugga boys with one big shoota and Nob with PK/BP

29 Shoota boys with two big shootas and Nob with PK/BP

29 Shoota boys with two big shootas and Nob with PK/BP

Fast:
4 Deffcoptas with rockets

Heavy:
Looted wagon with big boomer and Ard' case (Lemun Russ )

I think that's alittle over 2000pts now that I look at it. Will have to redo the math when I get home. I plan on running the Slugga boyz on either side of the Battlewagon.

One question I had: Does the Big Mek's KFF affect units out side of the vehicle that he is in?

KFF's shielding goes 6" from the vehicle model, so yes.

As for the list...

Footslogging the boyz along with the BW will be BAD. You want to launch them boyz at the opponent with all speed or a trudging, inexorable advance.

I suggesting making the Leman Russ count as a BW and throw the boyz in 'dere.

Kut 1-2 Deffkoptas. Add buzzsaws to the survivors.

Deck out the Nobs a bit more. Add some Powerklaws, Big Choppas, a Bosspole. Make each model unique in what it has on it.

Remove the 'eavy armor from the Warboss. Cybork is all he needs.

Remove all Big Shootas from the boy squads.

Kut out one boyz squad and turn one of the 29 manners into 19. With the points remaining, you should have enough for 2 more BWs. Or grab some trukks to go with the 2 BWs you have.

In a list that tries to be mechanized and footslogging at the same time, it becomes difficult to keep everything together as well as fight effectively. Slowing the BW down to the speed of the slogging boyz is bad. Having one BW means an opponent will wipe it off the board first before turning your list into a slogger list on turn 1.

Throw in some more vehicles as transports and you should be fine.

If boys are walking give them shootaz, if they are in trukks give the choppa/sluggas. I would strongly recommend giving your nobz heavy armor. Allocating a single wound to a nob to have him shrug it off half the time is a great ability, especially when you are slogging towards the enemy.

You want something that will be a threat to your opponent on turn one. Right now you have a small squad of lootaz, easily wiped out or feared by one turn of shooting, Deffkoptas with the same issue, and a looted wagon. These three units either need to be taken out, or increased in size. 15 Lootaz will provide a significant threat, where a single deffkopta is likely to be ignored until it blows something up. Looted vehicles draw a lot of fire so having more than one is probably a good idea. Form personal experience having only one or two vehicles, or one or two units not in vehicles, means that they take a lot of shots. The true strength of orks is giving your opponent too many targets to shoot.

Bottom line, play around with it figure out what works for you.

I know one of the main problems I have with my list is the lone Battlewagon. It's not gonna make it past turn one even with the KFF. I've been playing Mech IG for the past 4 years and am alittle burned out on Mech lists. I wanted a swarm army and the Orks fit the bill for me, mainly because they are soo freakin cool.

So what if I drop the BW and the Big Mek all together? Run the Nobz/Warboss unit behind the wall of Boyz. I could use the points for another Looted Russ or two with Boomas, some PK's and Big Choppas on the Nobz, and more Lootas. That would look better fluff wise with my "Feral Scavenger" theme...

Following the KISS doctrine for Orks: 110 models rushing across the field with the Lootas and Wagons providing long range support. Deffcptas flanking and the Kommandos sneaking in through the backfield...
