hi
im trying to start 40k painting again but i cannot decied what priming undercoat or first coat is best for blue armour space marines and orks. so is white better for marines and black for orks or is black a better undercoat or is white. it will be great if you tell me whats best.

I like White over black for the simple reason that its easier to work with.. for example trying to do yellow on white just 2 layers of thin paint and its nice and bright but if you try to do that with black oh man oh man if you dont have some kind of foundation color its a pain in the butt

I use a black undercoat for the peices that I want to have a dirty/grity look to them because it darkens a lot of the color. If you are going for a bright vibrant look then go with the white undercoat. But mostly it depends on what you want your peices to look like. Hope this helped.

Yeah i agree with ninja its all about what ur going to paint.. also i use black primer on metal armies or dark one. like my deff dread its prime black cuz im gonna make him look way rusty all over and for my venerable dread im gonna prime white because im gonna paint him ultramarine blue and a lot of his parts are gonna be white. with the exeption of the metal areas which i would cover with chaos black
