Hello all,

Ive been working on a custom dex for a "fandex campaign" that my friends and I are holding, and would like advice.
Naturally the campaign involves changes to the rules as we go, as it is sort of a playtesting gauntlet, but I'd like to have a decent book right from the start. Naturally both balance and fun must be juggled here. Currently the dex doesnt include any fluff or special characters except for one (Anton Ghurich) which is unfinished. Advice and suggestions are welcome.

Little passage about the Raven Guard from Lexicanum: "Eventually each Marine's skin becomes pure white while their hair and eyes darken, becoming black as coal".
Just sayin'.
Owning the night seems pretty cool but slightly unbalanced. I would suggest it as a psychic power but you are loaded down on those... So I shall suggest it as wargear!
I would suggest giving the Captain like master crafted scout armor or some such for a 3+ save.
The damocles rhino has a lot of good special abilities for 65pts. And for a rhino... Oh I just noticed it doesn't transport. I suppose that balances it then.
Having scouts as your only troop choice is kinda neat but that 4+ armor :/
I know you said Ghurich isn't done, but he is loaded down with pretty decent USRs for a pretty low amount of points.
Jump pack scouts made me lol.
I like the tarantulas.
I would drop the Stalker Boltgun range down to 24" or maybe 30"
The MotF also seems a bit random since there are no techmarines but fluffwise I'm sure it's explained.

Overall it's pretty solid, but the scout armor on everything is killer... (in a bad way :/ ).

Ah yes, forgot to mention. I would love to see some more fluff on this chapter, seems pretty interesting. Man that =][= always doin' stuff.

Thank you Crazythang for taking a look.

I have a new version ready soon (with all the special characters) but id like to respond to some of your comments.

Thank you for pointing out the skin and eyes of the Raven Guard. Interesting. Originally I was going for an allusion to a possible Night Lords gene-seed, however its also good to imagine that it may be stolen Raven Guard gene-seed. Giving multiple sources of speculation.

Own the Night is a tricky one. Its hard to say without playtesting how this will go down. After all you have to state right at the beginning of the game which turn it will be used, so its hard to accurately predict when you will need it (and only One turn can be declared). Combined with the fact that this is an army that tends to advance quickly, and the benefits of night fighting may be lessened.
However i will definetly keep my eyes peeled for problems.

I think i will in fact give the captain the Option of power armour, after all, i do have tacticals in the elites choices, so power armour isnt entirely unavailable just extremely rare.

Both the Damocles and the Sentry Guns that you mentioned are Imperial Armour rules, as such while not as balanced as official games workshop rules I feel they probably have had some testing.

Scouts as the main choice, and thus the 4+ armour is the primary focus here. In fact this began originally as a 10th company style list, but my fluff ideas just grew and it expanded. I feel that the 4+ is a nice counter balance to some of the other aspects of the list (the speed of the army in particular)

Ghurich is my Marbo at the moment, and is modelled after him. You may be right that his points are too low. He will need extra care, however marbo himself appears anywhere and gets to throw a demo charge which is awesome for 65 points, and Ghurich only gets his scout/infiltrate and a weapon that is nowhere near as destructive... Ill keep an eye on his points however.

Stalker Boltgun is directly from the Space Marine Codex (used by sergeant telion) and its role is as a special sniper rifle. Sniper rifles i have always found to be pretty underwhelming, so i liked the concept of this stronger version (with corresponding price increase).

Thanks as well for pointing out that i had forgotten techmarines as an elites choice. They have been added and youll see them when i post a second version.

Thanks again for commenting, good food for thought.

I'm honoured, but really, it wasn't necessary.

I like "Through the Looking Glass". Does that mean it also denies cover saves or not? I think it would be a useful addition.

"Through the looking glass" denies cover saves based on intervening models or terrain, however if you shoot at a unit that is within Area Terrain, they will still get that save.

Newest Version is ready. This one includes all of the special characters and a few edits and changes.

*NOTE* The special characters are a tricky bunch, its not easy to know how to price them, and as such all of the points costs are guesses. I would LOVE to hear suggestions for the point costs of the characters, as well as any other comments you can make.
