There are ally rules with Witchhunters and Daemonhunters, wherein they can attach Inquisitors to Guard armies or induct Guard into their Inquisition armies. Witchhunters are fairly competitive, as they've always been good for mechanizing and spamming melta/flamer weapons. Daemonhunters are less so. Grey Knight Terminators are awesome, but most other things in the codex aren't so hot. They have some fun options and wonky rules that are good for a laugh or two though.

Really, go download whichever Inquisition codex you want off GW's website and have a go at it. They put them up fairly recently, so go for it!

I've been playing Inquisition for a few years now, and they are a really fun and characterful army. I started out with grey knights, which were abit hit and miss, and then moved onto an imperial guard force with an Inquisitor as an ally. The codexes are free, but a little dated, but theres been alot of speculation (at least at my local club) that a new codex is on its way. Maybe you should try adding an Inquisitor to your guard to try out the rules? At the moment I've got a witch hunter Inquisitor with a rosarius and as many chiurgeons and acolytes he can have, I use him as a counter-charge unit in my Imperial guard and he proves to be incredibly difficult to kill.

Also if you take an inquisitor you get access to ASSASSINS - which frankly rock hard.

If you want background on the inquisition i suggest downloading the INQUISITOR rules (for free) off the GW website, as well as checking out Dan Abnett's Eisenhorn and Ravenor Series.

Good Luck, hope you enjoy the smell of burning heretics

if you want to play pure GKs then check out the tactics articles here on dakka. there is one on how to use GKs successfully. it's helped me do very good with them.

unfortunantly they took them off the US site.

likely because the new codex will be out very soon.

They couldn't have been up for long then. They were supposed to go up this month.

they were there for a couple of days and then they disappeared.

i guess GW realized they were giving away $25 worth of matierial for free and decided to stop being nice.

I hope you have money. Those armies are mostly metal, and expensive. One guy at my LGS plays Sisters of Battle. The models look good, even if their poses are limited, and it was not a cheap army. So just beware of the cost.

thats the biggest reason to play GKs. you need less of them.

this is the truth.

I play sisters of battle, and you'll have to mech up to really be successful. There is another cost. They are really fun, and it is always great to have people ooo and ahh over an army they don't see very often.

There are less models, which means you can spend more time on each model painting them, which is a blessing when you consider the amount of detail in each model. However, don't go thinking they're cheaper, since you have to buy their better weapons seperatly (they only include incinerators in the boxes, when you usually want psycannons instead, meaning you have to pay for them seperatly), and their boxes and blisters tend to be very expensive to begin with. $75 for 5 Grey Knight Terminators, and they only cost 6 points more than normal terminators!

I know this will probably divide people...

But I hope that new GK plastics come out when (if) they do a new codex.

The metal models are probably some of the most well sculpted in the range right now, but the cost of collecting an all GK army is prohibitably expensive (well it was for me anyway, but I'm a cheapskate)

Also back to the original line of discussion, Inquisition also includes the deathwatch and ordo Xenos (pretty much sternguard vets) as well, I've seen many marine players add a sternguard unit to thier army and paint it the colours of the deathwatch for variety.

You talk as if plastic GKs will be cheaper. GW has proven time and time again that this simply isn't true. Expect new plastic counterparts to cost just as much, if not more than our current metal models.

And Grey Knights will probably cost less points too, meaning you'll need more.

I want Plastics as much as you do, but i want them to keep the Metal ones in production as well. they are just that awsome.
