Infiltration isn't about deploying your army all over the board - it is about deploying *last*. Well aware of that, and it is a good point, however, if a savy opponant wins the roll and puts his infiltrators in a spot where they can see a great deal of the board, you are more limitied in your deployment than you were if you just deployed in your own zone. And sure, now you know where the opponant is, but you just paid a ton of points to do it and end up in your own zone anyway, most likely in areas where a smart player would have deployed without knowledge of his opponants deployment. im not the grandmaster of it, but in my experiance running a bunch of infiltrators is a waste of points. Those points, i feel, are much better put to use in other areas. but again, that is just MHO.

There are also many missions that do not allow "infiltrators" so again those points may be wasted. EVERY mission allows drop pods. Darrian Drop pods > infiltrators

There are a bunch of lists that look good, but the one I'm currently dinking around with is a mech Witch Hunters list with allied marines. Predators, Tornados and Chimeras mostly, plus some Las/Plas squads. It can put a ridiculous amount of dice down at 36"+. I'm not all the way sold on it yet, I need to test the idea out against some anti-tank heavy lists and a couple if the more common gladiator builds.

Oh this is easy. Send me the 1st place prize and save everyone the trouble. Chaos Godzilla could very well be the sickest thing ever produced. It's got 31-76 MC attacks in HtH NOT on the charge. HQ - Bloodthirster HQ - Daemon Prince EL - 3 Giant Spawn EL - 3 Giant Spawn EL - 3 Giant Spawn TR - some troops TR - some troops TR - some troops TR - some troops HV - Spined Chaos Beast HV - Spined Chaos Beast HV - Spined Chaos Beast That's 14 monsterous creatures. The Spine Beasts can all be given daemonic speed, along with the DP, and now you have 4 fast moving MC's and 9 mop ups. Oh and then the Bloodthirster decides to show up. You can hide the Spine Beasts behind cheap 60pt, 6 toughness, 3+ save, 4 wound Giant Spawn to protect them from turn 1-2 lascannon fire and assault the Oblits at 19-24" away all at once. Adepticon prides itself on the huge terrain selection it has and I will use all 1200+ pieces to give me cover saves everywhere until I pounce. It's sick, it will win and I've already got it.

Darth, darth, darth...It's so sad that you'll be returning to Gladiator competition only to learn that your time has passed...because I'll be walking away with the prize. Seriously, though...we need to get working on those "Gladiator Champion" smoking jackets for you, me, Muhwe, and PapaNurgle.

Afirel Strain= IG+ATSKNF [plus the fact that your opponents get perferred enemy against you]
The attached HQ thing is kind of a moot point seeing as you can only have two HQ choices maximum in a normal army. [Command squads don't count against this limit I know but by my reading of the rules you have to pick two of the three *female dog*'n SM HQ choices in a match.]

Celtic: What are you on about with the 'attached HQ' and SMs ?!? (scratches head). I was talking about a pure IG force, no fancy-pants space marines.
The only HQ would be the command section (4-plas or just Banner HQ squad, 2 special weapons squads with DCs - maybe a sentinel with Improved Comms to help with a coordinated drop).
As for preferred enemy being a downside of Afriel strain: pffft, name me some troop type that doesn't *already* hit IG on 3+. Grots maybe, if they have a cold that day.

Seeing as how Tau are my only army, I don't figure I stand much of a chance against most of this tooled-up stuff, but I'll likely play just for S&Gs anyway. I'll likely go with the Farsight mega-unit, just for a change of pace from my list for the Championship. Be sure to get your licks in there, though, because I'll be more than prepared for the other events

Eh, the one thing that you are forgetting about Giant Chaos spawn is that half of them will be stuck for a turn eating grass, because they will be failing their stupid tests....

The Spawn are leadership 9 and half won't fail that roll a turn. Spine Beasts are LD 5, but don't need to make a check to move.
I'm telling you it is insanely sick to play.

I'd be happy to see it be played. It sounds like a cool list to play, it's just I am not convinced. Plus, I though giant spawn aren't scoring units? I'll have to look again.

I've always wanted to use my Armored Company at a gladiator: Command Russ: Improved Comms, Extra armor, Hull HB
Tank Ace: Sponson HBs, Hull HB, Extra armor
Tank Ace: Sponson HBs, Hull HB, Extra armor, Improved comms
6x Russes: Hull HB
3x Demolishers: Hull HB, Extra armor.
Or I could use my tyranids: Flying tyrant (+1I, Hooks, Implant, +1S, wings, miasma, warp field), 2x Scy talons
Walking tyrant (+1BS, +1Sv, Miasma, +1S, Shadow in the warp), Venom cannon, Whip/sword 3x Tyrant Guards
5x Ripper Swarms 4x Leaping, toxin'd rippers
3x Dakka fexes 2x Carnies: +1T, +1W, +1Sv, +1 BS, Venom cannon, barbed strangler
Trygon
2x Floating spore sacks
All I've got to do is either A) Finish weathering the tanks, or B) Paint the spore sacks. I've considered dropping a bunch of the carni upgrades to get more sacks but it really depends on how I feel.

The Trygon's entry states that he takes up only 1 heavy choice.

In the Adepticon Gladiator rules, of which this thread initially referenced, anything with Mass Points takes up 2 heavy slots.

I think the nastiest I could come up with would be: Codicer- Termie and Fear, PW (cheapest HtH weapon, for +1 A) Codicer- Termie and Fear 6 dreads in pods AC/SB 9 landspeeders AC/HB 10 scouts -1995 pts
Also, someone mentioned the Afriel Strain, yes it is a good list, my team played that last year in the Team Tourney. But if you want to do well with it you better know how to play it in the Gladiator, just like "sisters aren't soft marines" the "afriel strain are not 'better' guardsmen", if you don't know how to use the strain you are better saving your points and bringing more guardsmen.

Does anyone have any gladiator experience with the all Valkyrie/Vulture list - either as =I= or as Elysians? It seems like it could do well given how little chance a lot of armies have to actually kill any of the flyers. I've used a couple of variants of this list using proxied figs, just to get a feel for how it plays (and it's good!), but my experience with it isn't enough to make a call about whether or not it can be "gladiatored". Any thoughts?

Fenris - The biggest problem is Adepticon states that each flyer takes up 2 fast attack slots as well as what ever piece of the FOC it takes.
