Funnily enough the weapon is in 1:35th scale and is oversized for the figure as it was a much smaller device in real life

Do not use the CLEAR dice!
Dear Whiny Space Marine Players, you get 3+ armor saves on all your troops (save scouts), Assault cannons, a huge assortment of vehicles and weapons, arguably one of the best if not THE best tank in the game, funny helmets, and a partrige in a pear tree.
suck it up, space marines. You're the emperor's chosen superhuman warriors. stop whining like a guardsmen and take it like a superman! |

I can't find it....someone asked about the bricks and I can't see if BArgos answered - if he has, I apologize.
The brick wall the one guy is jumping over is, most likely, part of a Tamiya 1/35 set. The more ceramic red bricks are a bit more difficult to place but I know Verlinden makes a set of 1/35 ceramic bricks that are expensive but very nice.

The interior HS would make an excellent AT rifle, if you took it out and mounted it on a bipod (looks sort of like a Boys)...

Posted By BrotherArgos on 02/04/2007 3:00 PM Finally got the Sgt. done, so should start painting now
This guy is the man. I love his kettle.. "You there, Get me some sugar.. Kurt, don't step on that mine. Can't have a moments piece for my tea." I love these guys. The only thing is Im not a fan of the walls..I think they detract from the model.. cause they are distracting.. But I like the jumping over the wall guy so.. eh.. And I like the realistic weapons.. include the rocket thing..

I am pleased the Kettle is going down well, I wanted the whole squad to be captured in a moment of time, doing both mundane and interesting things.

Death Korps dont like the Launchers? Hmm I used the older DeathKorps missle launcher bit for some of my traitor guard, it looks just like the RPG-7 thats why I love it.
Maybe the Death Korps dont like Launchers cause of the back blast affect?
You could always give one guy a anti-tank gun like mentioned above, Id go with giving the guy some that that looks like a PTRD-41 from the Russian army. You could model it, since it pretty much looks like a long pipe with a pistol grip. Or get one from a `1:35 scale model kit?
Keep up the good work!

Those are friggin SWEET! So you used plasticard for the straps? Awesome! How did you manage to bend them back on themselves without snapping? Hot water, soldering iron or something else? Fantastic work on those, really.
As to the panzerfaust, I agree with some of the previous comments, it does look a little weedy despite being 1/35 scale (GW's proportions have always been terribly askew, even with these). However, if you used some tubing about twice the diameter of the current one and the later war 100 warhead (while keeping the firing tube as reusable), it would be bang on, especially if you can show him or his loader carrying a sack of warhead/rocket assemblies for reloading.
Fantastic work Brother Argos!

Does the lampost give the trooper cover, or does it mean that the model can be targeted pretty much anywhere on the field?
Nice job. Are you priming with the bricks on the bases? Just wondering because it already looks nice as-is. THough I'm guessing you'll spray prime them and paint them better.

It's been in the back of my mind for a bit now, but since Malfred brought it up I'd like to pop in and suggest that the huge lamppost is a bit dominating on a single figure base. I've no idea how it looks in context with the entire army though, so I can only base my opinion on the pics you've posted so far. It certainly wouldn't be bad on a diarama or special figure designed for a painting competition.

@ MR.B : I suspect they are not regarded as "fluffy" for the death korps. I will be making my own one way or another. @ nyarlathotep667 : Thin strip plasticard, spending some time using the back of a scalpel to make it curl somewhat. @ malfred & Breotan : The lampost is removable strangely ...

So you used plasticard for the straps? Awesome! How did you manage to bend them back on themselves without snapping? Hot water, soldering iron or something else? You can also bend plasticard (my favorite way) by heating the section you want to bend with a hair dryer. Simply hold it over the place you want to bend for a few minutes and bend a little at a time, letting the plasticard cool slightly before bending again. It works MUCH better than holding over a flame - which tend to melt the plastic, more than make it bendable. You can also heatform shapes (like a fuelcan rack) with boiling water. Just bend thin plasticard strips around a wood form, clamp with wooden clothespins, and dunk it in a pot of boiling water for a couple minutes. Just don't use metal to form or clamp the plasticard as it will melt the plasticard and not form it.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

The lettering: Where did you get it from? I could do with some.
The kettle: Fantastic addition to the miniature, but with one small consistency snag. If the soldier actively has to wear his mask while brewing the tea it will likely be in an undrinkable condition. Though as other member of the team are springing into action he could be under standing orders to apply his mask at first sign of enemy contact.
|
n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. |

I don't know about WW1, but in modern day marine corps, the gas mask has a tube designed to fit into the lid of a canteen. I imagine something like that's available for DKoK, but an open tea kettle makes that moot.

If you are going to use the Krieg from the IA5 book there are some weapons that they don't get. Missile Launchers are one of them. If you're going stuff from the Codex then it's all good.
