eugenics, cloning,(arguably part of the same subject) reincarnation and simply being created from the warp. These are the ways chaos retains it's numbers. For example, a particularly favoured chaos champion killed in battle may well be 'warped' away from the battle field and reincarnated. It happens to lucius the eternal all the time (though he has his own unique method).

Also Karn the Betrayer was assumed "killed" till he was apparently brought back to life by Korn himself. This is probably why favor of the chaos gods is so coveted among chaos marines as it is assumed that as long as they are loved by their patrons they are for all intents and purposes immortal. It's just a function of time before they are re-encarnated again. Of course then again they could just turn into a chaos spawn one day for no apparent reason. Chaos is just fickle that way

Ahh, Now is this just general assumption or does it say somewhere in one of the codexs or books. I dont keep up with all the reading and fluff stuff. Just was interested in if this is a foresure thing that happens or if there are other things that could account for their attrition rate.

Slave raids are mostly how they keep up their numbers. This is referenced several times in the fluff.
The books "Storm of Iron" and "Dead Sky, Black Sun" both deal with ways to create new chaos marines as well.

I remember hearing about a player who was going to make a chaos army where every model (basic trooper to the daemon prince) was actually going to be the same "guy," just from different periods of his life (all brought together into the same army thanks to the effects of EOT on time).
I never found out how it turned out

DARKCHILD Wrote this --> Guerilla fighters! 8 foot tall giants in 3 inch thick brightly coloured armour charging towards the enemy screaming imperial prayers while firing fully automatic rocket propelled grenade launchers. They do not sneak around, the space marines see this as cowardly behaviour. The only reason space marines haven't all been wiped out already is because every other army fights with the same slowed tactics! A properly trained and led imperial guard team could wipe out a much larger space marine force using efficient small team tactics, marines are not invincible, they are just GW's golden boys.
Edited by Waaagh_Gonads SM can hide, they can camo up there uniforms with mud, brush and what not when making a ambush. some SM have been know to even change there color to match the enviroment. Look to the old Rouge trader books for the pics. no way Imperial guard can take on larger amounts of SM. There armor sucks compared to SM. They get killed faster. Does not matter what they look like there are many ways o conceal yourself. And when you have armor on that is hard to pentrate what can stop you. Oy listening to you is like talking to a 9 year old with out any common sence.Oh wait you are 9 with out any.

Once again, WLLG, please refrain from personal insults. I agree that (due to the fact 40k is SF and thus fantasy) SM's could sneak around a little. I just imagine their armour would be somewhat ...... whirry. The Rogue Trader stuff is generally not vlid now anywhom (Squats, guys?). Although they'd be noisy buggers, I should imagine that SM's, with their enhanced senses (both mechanically and genetically) would be taught to sneak around to at least a small degree, so as to optimise their numbers, and to use their short-range fighting ability to it's maxmum strength.
And whilst we're picking on people, you've misspelt their x2 (you spelt it 'there') Rogue (Rouge, French for red, I believe) and Oi. And besides, Darkchild is an Army Man! He'll get you! (And his Missus is hot.(Kudos for that, Darkchild))
Please don't be nasty, WLLG. Just discuss. And you never know, the British Army may have toilet bowls made from candyfloss. Yum Yum.

But if Darkchild shuts up with insults with me then i will stop on him! oh dear, i would argue but im not that childish so I will merely point out that biggest doesn't equal best and the "Israelians" base their entire military ethos on the British. Food for thought. Darkchild

Dakka seriously needs a logic check button. WLLG, as a people Israel pre-dates the UK, but their military techniques certainly don't. When was the last time you heard of Israeli troops destroying a target by marching around it for 7 days and then blowing trumpets (besides Joshua 6:1-20 that is)? That sort of thing stopped working for them a long time ago. Nowadays they owe much of their techniques and technology to the U.K. and the U.S.
