No, the wording on the force weapon doens't mention instant death, (althought the effect is the same) is just says that it slays the model outright regardless of how many wounds it has.

Yeah baby. Eat that! (Sorry. Months of fighting carnifexen with orks has lent me some pent up agression.)
I wouldn't be that worried, were I playing Orks. 3 Baals might give me a little bit of pause, maybe. And I'd want to avoid the DC.

Pop and drop. I had a GK grandmaster pop 2 fexes and hive Tyrant with his st6 force weapon. Mephiston is similiar with his st5 force weapon. Even one wound usually means death for MC's. Mephiston is even one up on a GK master because he can use psychic powers and a force weapon all in the same turn and has mobility to get to the things he needs to regulate. I am thinking he may live up to his title "Lord of death".

I missed the part about him being able to use the Force weapon *and* his powers. So I didn't factor that in.
Still have to watch for Shadows of the warp...or psychic Scream.
There is a case to be made for the Nid in synapse not being vulnerable to that. (though I think he should be)
Force weapons are only rolled against one wounded opponent per turn.
So he will likely kill one of the TMC's, and then die to the countercharge,

"As you know, you go to the tournament with the codex you have, not the codex you might want or wish to have at a later time."
|
As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

lol.. no, i'm not, why do you ask?
and as for the not having the codex bit, im just saying that force weapons don't inflict instant death, they remove all remaining wounds, as if the enemy had been mind-wared etc... And i know that nids are immune to instant death inside synapse, but unless the wording is such that they are immune to the automatic removal of all their wounds, or extra wounds to those initially caused (as implant attacks would cause), they are still suscepitble to force weapons.

"Mech"anized eldar all mounted in vehicles IW Iron Warriors. These are the top tier of tournament armies at the moment.
I believe the BA are going to be a very good tournamentt army. First of all i plan to take more than just a couple of baals. Id be foolish to go to a tourney and not be prepared for eldar.
Ill have dreadnoughts with either assault canons or las missile launcehers, and ill have melta bombs planted all over the place.
ill take down wave serpants first (easier to kill) and than the heavy stuff as i can, once i deal with the higher I cc eldar than i can reak havoc.

I have to think that the best builds are going to be a mix of las/melta with rhino (to provide cover for assaulters) and jump pack troops (I have the leaked .pdf). Nothing by itself is overpowering, but some of the combinations have the capability to work out pretty well.
With a 40 point rhino coming stock with OCE and smoke launchers, you can provide a significant level of cover for your assaulting units while they advance at a relatively insignificant cost. The trend I've seen with all of the newer codexes is that the best builds don't max out on one thing, but instead take a mix that works well together.
As far as tournament competitiveness? I don't think they're going to be top tier, there just aren't many easily exploited combinations that I can see. In the hands of someone competent, they've got a lot of flexibility and are very mobile (for SM), which should result in close losses or runaway wins.

I run a wych army. Jump packs and an aggressive BA player save my raiders having to use a lot of gas to get to the marines, and in this day of high prices at the pump, that's a good thing!
