A: This new unit sucks.

B: No, it's great!  You just have to use tactics.

A: Really?  Well, here's all the tactical reasons it sucks.

B: I play for fun, cheeseball.

It's no fun posting at that site for this exact reason.

I'm certain that every time one of the vocal and vacant denizens of Warseer says 'Use tactics!!!!1' God kills a whole bunch of kittens...

As one of the people who have used the 'just use tactics' line on warseer...I will say it is someitmes well-founded advice...Especially when they do the 'OH NOS!  I can't beat this cheezy <insert here="" unit="">.  It is impossible to beat'.</insert>

Shouldnt it be 'just make a better list'  cause tactics are like almost non-existant in 40k ?

drifting slightly OT:
If the summoning rules are (as rumored) just like Deep Strike but the Icon is like a teleport homer, then you'd only have to place the 'center' Daemon within 6" of the Icon Bearer. With each concentric circle around that original model you make you gain an extra inch of potential charge distance. I'm thinking with units of 8+ models you'd get two concentric rings which would give you a potential charge range of 14" from the Icon.

On the other hand, your deliver unit needs to be big enough to withstand a 'torent of fire' rule(or whatever its called) as to not pick the icon to be the one to make a save....

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

Dakka is rough around the edges, and not the friendliest board around,

WTF?!?  Who the @#$#%$ says we're not friendly, you tell me and I'll kick his @@$#%^ing n00b ass!  I'll kill him!  I'll kill his whole family!  I'll burn down his house!  And I'll shoot his dog!

That's what happens to people who call us unfriendly!

Incorrect.  Tactics do indeed exist in 40k

I like to drive mine up in a Rhino and jump out behind said Rhino.  Unless it 'splodes it blocks a fair amount of LOS and gives a 4+ cover save if the enemy shoots over the fenders.

I have never understood why topics like this exist on Dakka. So what if warseer is down? Is it a rumour? is it a secret or is it a conspiracy theory?

It's the friggin' end of the world

Both Warseer and Dakka have it's faults. Sadder however than a bunch of 16-year-olds yelling at each other is a 16+ person saying that he likes to bait for fun.

Warseer did find an increase in population thanks to the closing of GW's forums, but truth be told there are still many decent people who are able to maintain a decent conversation, on-topic, well-based, and ready to admit when they're wrong. Dakkadakka seems more like a place where people compete to get a cool sig with a really ironic comment. Not trying to insult or shoot down anyone on this thread, but the general feeling of antipathy from Dakka regarding Warseer - and other Dakka users - is amazing.

It's kind of redundant. People posted a few rumours and pics there, which attracts more people, which will inevitably attract more rumours-feeders and picture finders. And of course it's going to have it's share of GW fanboys. It's almost entirely dedicated to GW, so why the surprise?

And now I get ready for some bashing, because I'm pretty sure someone is going to be (quite unfairly) offended by something in this post ^^

Glad to hear that, beef. I'll have to cross fingers and hope everybody feels the same way. A forum isn't a community per se - the totallity of the forums make up the community that enjoy wargamming and miniatures collecting, and the forums are a medium for people to get help or share their skills.

Damn, I think I should go and lock myself in a cupboard or something. If I go on like this I'll found my own friggin' religion that sacrificies kitties or emos or something.

Because GW has a recurring policy of screwing it's dedicated players over by making their armies redundant, simplifying the game, and by having prices that increase far above the rates of inflation (at least in the UK, not sure what prices are like worldwide).

A very, very fair point. And one that can't be totally reffuted.
It's bad management through and through - nothing can change that, most of the times the price hike is/was completely unjustified - same bag of ten Marines, for 3 more pounds or so. Yet, in the end, it's a case of weighting things. As much as the price hike revolts me, I can't resist a miniature I know I'd love to paint. Curiously though, what's affected me the most weren't the miniatures or the price hikes, but the decrease in paint quality in some, if not most, of GW's paints - which are leaps and bounds more acessible (in the sense that I can actually find them on sale, since I'm not a fan of online shopping) than other paint ranges. Hence, my decline in interest is owed to the fact that I can't really paint them as well as I'd like, or as I used to.

Of course, I am speaking in my very particular case only. And I can understand those that dislike the head honchos, but who fully support the hobby. GW as a company is perceived as evil, while Warhammer in itself is the one that's being hurt repeteadly, and I think that's the cause of the hate.

If by saying that I like the miniatures and the hobby I am a fanboy, then yes. But that doesn't include liking all the aspects related to it, nor tsupporting the price hikes. It's this unfairness that ticks most people. After all, people buy miniatures for what they perceive as a good deal - for example, Forge World's miniatures. Right now, GW doesn't have the notion that a good deal is one where they make some cash and the buyer feels like he got what he invested.

This, of course, is merely the transactional part, but I think it's gone long enough without looking at the rules system. Since I haven't played in some years and my opponent was always my older brother, I can't really comment on power builds... Maybe that's why changes to the 'dexes don't concern me as much.

Power builds and new dex is something alot of people complain about but its upto GW what they do. People on forums for all their complaining have very little say on what goes into the new dex. I dont like the prices of GW stuff but then nobody is holding a gun to my head forcing me to buy the stuff. I am just an addict and cant help myself. the government should provide rehab for people like me.

The minis have improved vastly. I agree the paints have suffered alot. I remember them have much more pigment around 10-15 yeears ago. The paints is what disapoint s me the most.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons.
