Not a fan of the green trim, but overall they look great. Looks like you went with nice subtle source lightning too. I've never been a fan of models where half of them are bathed in glowing green light coming from a sword or gun. The rock and snow bases contrast well with the blue armor. The gold is looking fantastic; maybe try and throw some more bling on the marines to break up the blue a bit more. I hope we see more of these guys soon.

hey there, after a year of ignoring 40k and everything, i pulled out my bits box and started scrounging in it and coveting all my lovely bits (drool)... after seeing your "en-BIG-u-lated" marines i am inspired to finally put together my army... which i never actually did (built a nifty librarian in termi armor... the post is somewhere on here about a year ago)

so how exactly did you go about enBIGulating your marines...

Im thinking about an ORDO Xenos deathwatch army... i have 15 deathwatch pads and bolters and plenty of other nice bits to play with, will just have to buy a box or two of tacticals and get going.

cheers

Great work Hammer, always a pleasure to see your stuff. These marines are big, blue and look dead 'ard - well done! The source lighting is fun too, and I dig the weathering bits.

I added plasticard to the lower part of legs and arms, widened the chest/back piece and added thinner card to the soles. I also added a bit of green stuff between leg piece and the torso piece. The torso is also widened a bit by green stuff. So the whole marine is bit bigger everywhere.

IMO if you just add height to waist or some such, the body propotions go to hell. I'm not saying I managed to do perfect propotions, but I tried to add little bit everywhere.

I also tried to get the marines out of their wide stance hunch that GW has given them. That adds a little bit to their height too.

FANTASTIC work mate!!

The lowerleg frosting really pulled them together to the landscape. I've also really come to admire your signature painteresque style of painting, which has really evolved nicely during the years.

5 stars!

As other have mentioned, great work Hammer.

Now I see that the NMM thing is going also a bit in their armours, nice touch!

Hey hammer,

I hope you're still working on this project as it is giving me a lot of inspiration just on the biggerising of the marines.  Also, somehow, the way you paint with additional light sources coming from your models, makes them seem alive and less rigid.

Hats off!  Keep up the good work!

Yes, I'm still working on this, albeit slowly.

The models that I'm working right now are Land Speeder and first four marines of the second squad (one of them a Honor Guard).

Also, one of the Dakkaites has asked me to do a tutorial on how I biggerize my marines. I'll take WIP pics as I built the fifth marine in case others are interested in that too.

Hey man, excellent stuff. I have a bunch of Black Reach SMs on my desk and its been taking me months to decide upon how to paint them, which chapter etc. I painted up one salamander and one Crimson fist but i'm kind of looking for an army without so much hype these days. Then i thought... Uriel Ventris...Ultramarines 4th... and punched it into google and your incredible marines popped up. I collect guard but its always fun to make some marines.

You're first squad is excellent, they green trim is fantastic. I like that it is a bit muted to the 'blinged out' Second company. Excellent stuff. Subscribed.

Great work man! Love the blast shield conversion on the missle launcher armed marine. Also, the light effects are pretty ace as well. Great, great job.

Please, people, do not post in this thread. It's been dead for a long time.

I've stopped this Ultramarine project a long time ago (2007!) and these figures in this thread have been converted into Space Wolves. I'm in process of re-painting them as SW's right now.

So this thread is dead and a mod can put a lock in it.

Good luck my friend. Right now I'm building the Blood Angels 2nd Co and I hope to finish my project in the next 4 months. Also your detail work in painting is an inspriation to us all.
