I would prefer something like this personally. It is for 1500pts tho.

Lord, Orb, Veil 200
25 Immortals 700
20 Warriors 360
Monolith 235

I think Crons benefit from having large squads when they field liths/veils as they work irrespective of squad size.

Thanks for adding absolutely nothing to the conversation. As you obviously didn't read the thread, I'll briefly summarize it for you. The title of the thread is "Does the Necron Flying Circus Work?" after which I laid out a brief explanation of what I was thinking and attached an army list. Then, other people such as Voodoo Boyz and Longshot gave their various opinions on Destroyer heavy armies. I'll repeat that in case you missed it - Destroyer heavy armies. Now, granted, Augustus went off on a rant about how you couldn't have a necron army without res orbs and monoliths so maybe you just skipped right to his post and thought you'd deftly scanned the entire thread. Let me assure you that you - in fact - had not.

Instead, you simply posted an old, boring necron list after I specifically said that I was not interested in either a) buying 20+ immortals or b) including a single monolith in my army. Necron lords with orbs and veils work? Stop the presses Jimmy.

Zaqzaq, I'm sure you are a nice guy; but, judging by your post count, you are relatively new to the site. Here at dakkadakka, they tend to be a little less... tolerant of posts that are either off-topic and or poorly thought out. However, if you like posting idiocy which has nothing to do with the subject being discussed, there are two absolutely lovely sites (Warseer.com and bolterandchainsword.com) that would be pleased as punch to discuss endlessly how wonderful they, GW, Jervis Johnson, and their idiotic posts are.

All that said, if you have any tips on Necron armies consisting primarily of Destroyers, Heavy Destroyers, and Destroyer Lords; I would be pleased as punch.

Sgt Scruffy,

I like your most recent list. It should stand up well to just about everything I play.

Anything faster than it is (ravenwing and mech eldar come to mind) will have a hard time dealing with it because you can put out enough firepower to cut them to pieces (thinking specifically of RW here) or prevent them from shooting you (thinking of mech eldar here) and in either case, you should do well. Anything that has the firepower to really deal with it won't be able to focus all of their effects on you because of the mobility differential.

The only fight that I think would be interesting (read that as hard to win) would be someone who plays a nasty all deepstriking list.

Main reason to not use a 'Lith in this army is that with a Lith you can't take more Heavy Destroyers, and Heavy Destroyers are the key to beating Nidzilla reliably.

If it were not for Nidzilla and SAFH marines, I don't think that there are many lists out there that the "standard" Necron builds of 'Lith + RO+Veil Lords + either Immortals or Destroyers couldn't take out.

That said, this kind of list is interesting enough that it makes me want to buy more Heavy Destroyers. I think Sgt. Scruffy should be banned.

The Necron Flying Circus is, as stated previously, a recognized and strong list around where I play. I've used it many times, and can testify that with adept use you can reliably compete against the toughest competition.

There is a very problematic matchup, however, in Drop Pod marines.

First Off, Fear The Darkness from the librarians is an immense problem. Fail a test and your jetbikes fly right off the table. Fail 2 tests and you've basically lost the game.

Next up, the mobility and range you are paying all those points for are utterly wasted. You will take their fire at point blank range for at least one round, and that's simply not endurable with a flying circus.

With the exception of Dropping marines I'm a huge fan of the Flying Circus. I guess every list has one counter out there that they just can't deal with.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).
