S4 hormies can't possibly harm a T8 wraithlord.

I think his point was to tie it up in CC for the rest of the game so it doesn't hurt more expensive units. not to actually hurt it with guants.

If given Rending they can, it ignores armour and auto wounds on a 6.

HUH! how are you giving hormies rending?

Quick! Look over there! *points*

I was probably thinking of the inverse of a genestealer, don't know why though. Oopsie.

But yes, tying up a wraithlord in combat is viable... especially if something big and nasty is going to deal with it later.

Rippers-effective as screen or tie ups?

Ravenors-effective for points?

Lictors-how bad are they? really bad or just mediocre?

-Rippers are effective in the fact that you get a 3 wound 3 attack unit for 10 points. if you give them leaping they cost more but it's about the same cost as a genestealer. I use em to tie stuff up and scare opponents who suck in CC.
- raveners are fast and nasty and with a throat mounted gun can surprise opponents. I only use them 2 ways. either as single units that hide and control objectives or in big groups as open field assault units (since they can't get fleshhooks).
-lictors are great if you are playing escalation or reserves games because they give the extra re-roll. Mostly I just take a squad of two and have them deepstrike near opponents command units for a bit of rending goodness. They are a big point sink for what they are though.

meh, whatever...

As a screen they work "OK", but powerfists clear them out wholesale.  I know one player who uses them over gaunts or stealers, makes them WS4 and Leaping, they are the ultimate turn 3 tie up unit for units without a fist, and even with the fist, 99% of the time they're being hit on 4's instead of 3's.

As a screen gaunts are better, but that require investing in synapse, which is something many players just don't want to do.

Ravenors are very effective.  In small numbers they make great counter chargers and in big numbers across multiple squads they can put a lot of hurt on things.  They need to be played carefully, but generally can make it to assault if you want to put them there.

Lictors blow and take away from a Dakka Fex slot.  Even if you're not going with Zilla nids, they still suck hardcore.  Even Warriors are better.

1) Thread necromancy isn't cool.

2) This question has been raised and answered already.

1) Sorry to ruffle feathers. However, used to not hangin with the cool kids. No offense, but it'll prob. happen again in the future, as my job does quite a bit of taking me out of the loop for a few months at a clip w/ no net access. I try to keep it to a minimum, but sometimes it happens. Just like everyone else.

2) I am pretty sure I acknowledged that in the second line of the post in question. Again, my intention was not to hack anyone off. Just to make it clear.
