that's a tricky one. From a looks point of veiw (if you want more towards the top end of the numbers you want) I'd personally start with a central cannon and add a ring or two around that, possibly stagard a bit. The rears would need building up, possibly with cogs etc to make it look like they can all turn individually. Other than that I'm not sure, I don't really like the burst cannons, they just don't look right to me.

Lovely army !! coming along very very nicely !!

Not sure if this has been posted on here before.. but seeing as your Ad Mech.. it's worth a look ..

http://www.tempusfugitives.co.uk/pdf/40k/Codex%20Cult%20Mechanicus.pdf

It's a codex a gaming club in the UK have thrown together (well.. i say thrown.. looks like a bit of work went into it, jugding from the art work alone !!!).

I've been looking into there stuff for a while.. they've got a few events coming up at warhammer world as well !!

Think they were mentioned in white dwarf this month.. so not just Vampires and little else !

jamessearle0 : apart from buying enough kits for the weapons all i can think of at the moment is using plastic tube of different sizes to make the guns. Also take a look at pics of vulan mega bolters, there are a few titan sctrachbuilds on here with hand made guns, these could answer your problems.

Vindicare101: thanks for the comment. I've not seen that codex before, may have seen an earlier/similar one though. I've looked at a few and this by far is the best I've seen to date! It's the only one that seems to both give a flavour of the army, present interesting modelling options and fit in with what I had in mind. Deffinatly be using this as opposed to the IG codex where opponets allow it. THANKS LOTS!!!!! (also thanks to the nice guys who have written it, well done.) Already planing some sentinal conversions and a crawler/landraider!

Hey Covenant, I agree that the TF codex is the best I've seen – it's the only one that really fits in with the current Codex style, and works really nicely to represent the Mechanicus – a nice mix of variety with easily recognisable 'types' of units – it's the one that I'm going to use from hereonin.

If you'd like to help playtest it, Ulfhedin (the author) welcome ideas and changes here:

Thoroughly nice chap who's taken on a lot of ideas from the Legio Victorum.

Keep up the good work (I really like the cog-shaped loincloths!) and get postin'!

OK, painted sentinal:

WIP demolisher, not happy with the 'plasma cannons', will be replacing them when I've got hold of a couple. Have my eye on the devastor set, may even replace the lascannon too so it looks more 'bolted on'. The idea was that the demolisher would be a wroking vhechle rather than a tank, but doubles up as a demolisher for game purposes. C&C welcome.

I really like the power weapon effect on the halberd. I´ve been trying to paint like that for ages and still I can´t get it right.

Ditto on the PW effect. Very nice army! The demolosher looks too cool. The rusting effect on the dozer blade is very very good!

I wonder if GW will ever realize just how much everyone really wants Adeptus Mechanicus armies and give them a codex. Probably never.

thanks for the comments! the power weapon I tried a different method to usual. normally I would wet blend, but this time started with ablue base, highlighted with white, then applied a few layers of washes, covering less space each time and getting darker around the cog, then rehighlighted the crisp white edges and added a couple of white streaks (and a darker one towards the bottom). I've very please with how the tank came out, the dozer especially for a first attempt. If you try it be warned, don't over do the hairspray, it turns sand into concrete! It's anoying how photos show up the floors ina mnodel though, I must say it looks far more realistic and 'neat' in real life. In the photo the edging of the rust wash and every slight floor seems to jump out at you! I would recomend having a go (expecially with the chipped effect), it's great fun and quite a different technique, quite refreshing to paint in a different way for once. Also, there is very little highlithing on the tank, just a small amount of drybrushing on the 'clean corners. the whole highlighting took less than a minute!

New tank. Here's the latest creation - a hellhound. Made from the defiler spare and a few other bits. It's actuallly worked out cheaper to make the three tank conversions than it is to buy the models as they are! Hope you like. Sorry again for the poor photo.

Have just finished my Rhino (pic to follow). Also started building a terrain set (see my other thread). Any suggestions for Ad mechy terrain? At the moment havea factory entrance, pump house, missile silos and landing pad with two-three small bases left to fil. The over all theme is an abandoned outpost/colony.

Amazing stuff there. I gotta say that after looking through this thread you have inspired me. Though the one thing I would like to know if did you sculpt those AdMech Symbols onto the marine shoulder pads or did you find them somewhere online? I could use a whole bunch of those so I thought I would ask.

The marine pads are from the space marine vhechle acessory sprue (as fo the ad mech chest plates when I use them). The symbol on the Guard pads is green stuff pressed into a mold of the marine pad made with green stuff. Hope that helps, and thanks for the comments!
