little units of gretchin screening units of big gunz in 5th ed is gonna be nice. As was pointed out earlier, high armor will need to get dealt with. ZZap guns with ammo runt rerolls, screened by running gretchin, have some decent survivability, and good static shooting to support footsloggers. Same with running gretchin in front of lootas. As for 4th edition, you are buying a cheap screen for cheap troops that don't need a screen. Like the math said earlier, until 5th ed hits and screened units get 4+ cover saves, the grots should just be more boyz, target priority is not a good enough reason to field em.

I have run a grot mob with 11 grots and a runtherd. (43 points--11 just cuz I had three extra--each trukkboy mob takes you off of a total divisible by 5 by 2, so one extra grot can help make the points even again) I used it in a few ways in different games.

1. I joined it with my big mek to stop him from being targetted when he was by himself on a flank.

2. I put it WAY off to one side away from the rest of my force in a recon style match. My enemy had to either ignore them or send a much more expensive unit to deal with them.

3. I surrounded my killa kans with them so any chargers would have to charge the grots, making sure that the KK's got to charge.
