i dont really see the need of moving them, on a normal 6x4 with a good piece of cover, a god sweetspot is something to stay with i think.

There ain't nearly enough Salvage in this thread!

Back in the last edition I used a battery of 3 Kannon with maxed out crews (to soak up fire). I loved them even with orc BS firing the shells. Do the kannons still have the option to fire barrage or single shell? Also what Str are they now? I heard in shell form they also lost there "counts as ord" pen bonus.

Back in the day on turn one I used these things to vape my friends BA land raider full of marines. He was less than happy.

They are no longer ordnance, no longer large blast (and just S4 on the blast), and cannot fire indirect.

I don't know, they were never really that good in the last codex. I don't think that kannons are all that good; the fact that they have to stay still, for the most part, is a huge downside for me. I can also see positioning them as a problem, i.e. with so much crap on the board it might be hard to put them in a position to do any good. Also, I am unconvinced reguarding the idea that, "people will ignore them. If you have Big Gunz it stands to reason that you don't have battle wagons. You may have trukks to distract your enemy, but those can easily be blown up by bolter fire. I just see a lot of las/plas squads firing at the kannons in the first/second turn because they have "nothing else to shoot at/might as well." Sure, the weapons that fire at you might hit a grot instead, but I think that with LD 5 (or even 7 at best with the Runtherder) they will be running away a lot if they get shot at. Others may have seen good results with these units but, overall I see Big Gunz sitting in the back of the field doing almost nothing during the entire game but running away or dieing

Kannons are much cheaper and more accurate. That makes up for the loss of strength for the high explosive version and the loss of Ordnance for the shell version.
