But, to be fair, Forgeworld is very expensive even in the context of resin models. Fortunately their sculpts are of such quality that they can get away with it.

*Cough*

Buy more FW models.

More bubbling, warping, and non-cleaned of agent I have never seen from say FOW.

All of my FW experiences = bubbled, warped, gapped, not cleaned.

FOW = not cleaned, but their agent doesn't repel primer so...who cares?

Sorry, back to topic.

FOW uses resin? I thought they were metal. Learn something every day.

If you're going to compare GW vs Historicals, compare with Fantasy, which uses comparable model counts on an army basis. Right now, you get 20 (plastic, multi-pose) Empire Militia for 18 GBP. Less than 1 GBP per model is considerably cheaper than 1.5 GBP.

I don't think there are many historicals that are price-competitive with GW's plastic Cavalry Regiments.

Essex Miniatures cavalry is 86p per figure. That's for 25/28mm metal figures, without any bulk discount.

I'm not saying you are wrong about plastics. They certainly are cheaper to produce if you make large quantities. The popular historical 1/72 plastic sets are cheap compared to equivalent 15/18/20mm metal figures. A lot of people use them. Metal is still very popular, though, partly because there is a much larger range available, and because in the small scale metals figures are pretty cheap anyway, and a lot of players like the weight.

The advantage of metal is you can do very small runs. GW isn't interested in very small runs.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Oh but they are beatable. Very easily, and by a country mile:

20 metal Wood Elf cavalry for $60 anybody?

By Tom Meier.

And each one an eye-wateringly beautiful sculpt.

That offer rips the head off GW's and craps in its neck!

When will people learn? GW's plastics are NOT good value for money. They're better value for money than GW's metals, but that's like saying Mussolini must have been a nice guy because he wasn't as bad as Hitler...

Well, I stand corrected. Those are nice models, and the sale price is better then Gw's. I mean, factoring in shipping and a readily available GW discount the price might get closer, but all in all it seems like a great buy.

Allow me to restate my assertion, then: GW plastic cavalry regiments are among the best values for cavalry that is readily available.
