more specifically, the old models were much much better.
Eh, I like the reptiles more than the sabretooth dogs, though I prefer the OLD retile hounds more than both. Keranak is atrocious though, especially at $17

nah, I meant the Demonettes. I should have been more specific since I was the OP.
Keranak is probably best converted, given the bulkiness of the model and the price. I also have to agree regarding the general crappiness of GW monster-dogs but I like the new undead ones. Sorta. Zombie dogs are a bit easier to make convincing/ original though.

Bah. They suffer from big-head-itis just like nearly every other dog GW has done.
I don't know why but for some reason all of GW's canids come out looking like the dogs from Willow. Except not awesome.

The new dire wolves have their plastic-ness and price going for them, coupled with some "not 100% crappy" sculpting. As for other GW dogs, I kinda agree they're mostly not real great. That said, the metal warhounds are pretty solid in my book, and my favorite flesh hounds I've seen were made from the two-headed hound (or converted grafting his extra head to other hounds) painted red + bone. Felt like sticking in some nice hound sculpts for a change of pace. Pity they're Confrontation and no longer available, and pity I missed out ordering them from Neal this weekend - Salvage

Once upon a time, there were some nice GW metal mastiff models...but as with so many other OOP minis, they're now long gone...

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack |

I agree. In this case they managed to make them awesome (like the dogs from Willow) and not just with big heads (like the dogs from Willow). No doubt they are hard at work rectifying this oversight as we speak and will release Trish Morrison's latest reimagining of the classic "big-headed rat-dog with daftly lolling tongue" when Chaos mortals get redone later this year.

Well, look on the bright side!
They could look like the new Plastic Dire Wolves!
(Still can't believe that resources were spent on making those nasty things in plastic!)

I remember when the plastic space marines scouts were first previewed. I went out and bought a squad of metal ones immediately. Never regretted it.
