Do you mean the price in US dollars? Or the price in psychic distress for having to look upon these scaly beef-headed Trish Morrison-esque rusty-spoons-to-the-eye?

Ooh, ooh - my vote is for the cost in "rusty-spoons-to-the-eye"! (RSTTE) I'd say that's about 90 RSTTE, compared to about 16 RSTTE for the new Daemonettes. Mind you the last (current) Daemonettes were free in RSTTE.

Who did the basic, metal chaos hounds? They look great IMO. That sculptor can do dogs- you'd think they would start, say, patronizing sculptors who had proven themselves able to execute a certain form. I dunno, maybe that's crazy talk.

At least good old chaos hounds painted red are always a viable option.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I honestly think that Flesh Hounds are the one model that has gotten progressivley worse as time's gone on. I mean, the last versions were better than these, and the version before that was far superior to those.

And they all sucked overall!

Why can't GW get Fleshounds right when models like the current Daemonettes and Screamers exist?

I quite like these new Flesh hounds to be honest, at least more than the previous incarnation. At the very least, these guys appear to be physically capable of biting someone and hurting them. As opposed to the previous models, which didn't seem to be able to open their jaws widely enough to get anyone's chewy bits past their enormous tusks. The 4th edition flesh hounds looked like they couldn't do anything more than perhaps serve as demonic pipe clamps. These guys at least convey a sense that they have use in non-plumbing applications.

Also, I don't have a lot of familiarity with the sizes of fantasy models, but I've often thought that a weak point in the Beasts of Chaos line was the silly, silly Dragon Ogres. These hounds could potentially make a very nice basis for some kind of Dragon Ogre conversion. Maybe.

I don't mid these models,
they do still look cartoonish (which is something that I thought they were trying to go away from)

But at least they have more types of models.

Ha! Good one! (And too true.)

Again, too true. And I love the Beasts army too. If they could only release something closer to the Shaggoth.

But then, they'd sure cost a lot (more) then...

Well, they certainly bite.

No wonder Slaanesh hates Khorne. These make me hate Khorne too. Maybe they're supposed to be ugly on purpose? Maybe just to show his disregard for artistry and aesthetics Khorne makes his doggies look like iodine-deficient mongoloid Gila monsters with Down Syndrome?

Seriously guys. These are just embarrassing. Like Chaos possessed embarrassing. I mean, come on. Come, on.

Was checking them out the other day and weighing in the benefits of $2.20 plastic models into the equation. Really, if they had left the one exposed boob a nice full breast with nip and all, I could deal and be fine with the models -- really only the horrible pinchy claws stand out to me besides the lack of nipplage. BUT then I saw that the exposed 'breast' is this hideous deflated plain of wrinkled skin, and was horrifically turned off of the models. I look forward to somebody sculpting in half a chest and fixing the snipy claws for a nice little plastic demonette, but it won't be me.

Tacobake wrote:they are crap.

Eh, I like the reptiles more than the sabretooth dogs, though I prefer the OLD retile hounds more than both. Keranak is atrocious though, especially at $17

Let's be fair here- the old daemonettes were awesome, the new ones just aren't amazing. They're pretty passable though, and Salvage makes a good point- $2.20 each, fellas. And coming from the company that makes the flesh hounds and the chaos trolls, etc., we should just be happy that they're well-proportioned and without stupid grins.

EDIT: Jeebus, I just reread my own simpering statement there. Screw that defeatism. Does anyone have suggestions for alternate-company daemonette models?
