Lots and lots of armies have lots and lots of problems with various other armies. I'm not sure if the 2+ save will help against the retributors, unless there's alot of 2+ saves...
If there was a perfect army, wouldn't we all know about it and play it to the exclusion of all else?
I think I like my new title, SoulEater. Sounds kinda FF'ish though.

Dave Taylro is too smart to use the crazy UK GT house rules, unless of course the main studio actually incorporates them into the official FAQs, which ain't-a-gonna-happen.

Darrian13 wrote:Strangely Stelek, you keep talking about all these "friends" of yours, but, A) they never post here. B) no one has ever posted that they have played you and had a positive experience. The funniest/saddest thing I have ever heard in reference to playing you was that your opponents at the Vegas GT said "they looked like they had the life sucked out of them" and that was from an official at the event.
I post here occasionally and am a "friend" of Stelek. I am here to attest that he can be a singly frustrating person to play against for two main reasons:
1 - He will tell you before the battle how you are going to lose. Then, 90% of the time, he beats you exactly how he said - no matter what you do to counter it. It comes across as arrogant.
2 - Whenever you have a great triumphant moment (e.g. "haha! I just downed both of your Hive Tyrants in one turn!"), he simply looks up and asks, "Is it my turn yet?" in a nonchalant way that lets you know how little your accomplishment is affecting his gameplan.
It really takes getting to know him to truly enjoy playing a game against him.
That said - everyone that attended the tournament he ran last month thought that it was one of the better ones they've attended. Attendees even posted on it in the Schedule a Game section here.
...ok, I'm done with the Stelek-love. Back to lurking.

How does everyone (Stelek and Blackmoor particularly) think Stelek's list would do against a jetbike-heavy Saim Hann list? Like, say (just thrown together for sake of argument):
Jetbike Autarch with lance, fusion gun
Bike Farseer with Fortune, spear
2x6 bikes with 2 shuricannons, warlock with embolden and spear
2x3 bikes with shuricannon
2x5 Shining Spears with Withdraw
1x8 Warp Spiders with Withdraw
2x Fire Prism, holos stones etc.
I'm going to work this list out more tightly and post it separately, but it's precisely armies like Stelek's (mid-strength shooty) that I'm wondering about. I think the bike's speed should help, but am not sure. Your advice appreciated.

A lot depends on the general of course, but that bike list should fare ok against Stelek’s list.
Stelek’s list really has very little counter assault, so if you have a lot of fast moving assault units, and they make it to his lines he is in trouble.
Here is the problem though, that bike list will not do very well against a lot of armies, so if you are in a tournament, that list will be going downhill in a hurry.
Back in 3rd edition the huge seer council was all of the rage. But everyone was saying how Demonhunters can easily beat it. The problem was that if you don’t get matched up in the first round, those 2 armies will never meet at a GT.

Demonhunter's couldn't easily beat it. They could score a few easy wounds against the 20 man council, but suffered horrendously from the 1000 points of 5 man starcannon/brightlance squads and wraithlords in the process.
Against the 60 man seer council i don't think they had enough firepower, although anyone could beat that army in cleanse. Orks were quite good against it tho, probably the only weak point in that army.
No interest in discussing the original army. Sorry for diverting the topic.

If I was playing both armies, I'd sit the heavy bolters in one corner and let you come my way when ready.
Since going invulnerable won't do much, it's really going to be about whether you can minimize the damage I can do with my shooting before you can assault me.
Often it's impossible to really 'refuse flank' a corner castle, so you often have to come in entirely along one board edge and take your chances.
While my list isn't built much for counterassault, it is built to just sit there on LD9 forever. Which can turn the tide against expensive troops like bikers, who often lose the 'luck' factor when they are going up against insurmountable odds.
Just like knights in fantasy have serious problems with large blocks of stubborn or unbreakable troops. You might win over time against one such unit, but there will always be another unit coming in for you to chew up...

As to the army list -
I think it's more than a bit of an Eggs/Basket kind of list. You're hoping that your opponent is Horde and/or Psychic. If you sit across the table from another gunline, you will evaporate.

It isn't exactly balanced, that's for certain.
I think suit Tau would cripple it with JSJ, and what I consider 'good' IG with Las/AC fire.
At a GT though, you often don't see either army type.
Tau are usually mech, and IG are usually some kind of drop swarm.
I've been trying to get lined up against Nidzilla with a list that has a harder time with it (like my Eldar at last years GT) but usually get slotted up against the same 5 army types each year: good/bad marines, mech tau, and IG swarms.
No matter how well I've done, I've never really felt like I was going up against a rock to my scissors type of army. Even that 150+ drop IG army, while annoying, was run by a very bad general and I was able to chop him down without resorting to zooming my Eldar tanks around.
I dunno, what alot of people believe is the current state of the metagame...you know I don't believe in it.

So, judging from this other post ( http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/208717.page), I assume you won't be taking this WH list to the Vegas GT?

I have alot of armies I want to play.
The Orks are furthest from completion, might as well get to it.
Besides, there's alot of time between now and then. I figure this army will still exist next year, and so will my Orks...but my current Nids might have to go because I don't know if they'll still exist next year and I'd really like to take them to a GT.
So many armies, so many GTs, only 1 event allowed per year per wife?
