Well, I think it really suffers from the fact that it won't actually give you an idea of how powerful a unit is, just how diverse it is.

Still, its an impressive figuring device.

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

I don't have my chaos codex in front of me, but doesn't Fabius Bile's ability to create "enhanced warriors" count for something? I mean, I realize it doesn't make ~him~ any more diverse, but it does add diversity to the army as a whole (I'm not sure what the best way to represent that is, however).

I'm really intrigued by what you're doing here--I've got a strong background in research methods & statistical means of measurement, so trying to create a mathematic schema to weight diversity/options in a codex intrigues me a lot.

Kudos

Well, there are (or were) many attempts to rank or otherwise judge units, army lists, and codices based on power, and in the end, it's both highly subjective and always shifting.

To Geddonnight: good catch with Fabius, he does add yet another option to CSMs. I think anything he provides would fall under the Stat Boost already, but I can take another look at it later.
