No, no need to download an entirely new client - when you launch for the preview weekend the game will just patch itself up to the current build.

Yes, yes the game is excellent. WoW drug me away from TT for a good 3 years and now my wife and I are both sick of the grindiness of that game. We've both been in the CB for a little over a week and we're loving it. Can't wait for launch.

AFAIK the final server names aren't up (CB servers were named differently from the preview ones that are up now, so there's every possibility that the live servers will have yet another batch of names). I've already got the start of a Destruction guild formed from a handful of WoW guild mates that are also going to be playing. Once we've got a guild name and server name I'll swing back and put them up. Would love to have an alliance with some fellow Dakkaites.

dang. i am going to have to give this game a go.

for order i think i will run a shadow warrior, white lion, or Bright wizzard. most likely shadow warrior. but then again, i like to have a pet. and setting everything in sight on fire is allways fun.

for destruction it will be a squig herder .... it just sounds like to much fun to pass up.


honestly people, my desire to roll a shadow warrior and squig herder has nothing to do with my WOW hunter (or is that huntard? )


EDIT: i dont have the pre order, so i will have to wait untill september. o well only 28 more days, its not like i dont have stuff to build and paint.

when you get the guild going i would like to know what server it is on.

If you want something closer to Hunter go for the Squig Herder. White Lion is melee with a pet and SH is ranged with a pet.

getting into HTH is allright sometimes. but i would rather shoot things with arrows or guns from a safe distance then get into the thick of the sword and axe swinging. squig herder for distruction will be a perfect fit for me. i am thinking my main order toon will be shadow warrior or bright wizzard, while the secondary one would be white lion.



hay, how hard is it to get a mount in this game??

it takes a while for a casual player to lvl up to 40 in WOW... and i have no fraggin clue how i am going to get one in LOTRO (got the lifeitme sub to this game, outstanding graphics and PvE, lacking in PvP)

Ok since the open beta has started now and I think the server naming will carry over to release. We might as well settle on servers for the Dakka Guild so unless people have objections I picked two at random that are on the North American list.

Blood Keep - Dakka Order Server
Mad Dog Pass - Dakka Destruction Server

It'll be a while before I get the game, but if you guys are still going come December or so then I'll be more than glad to join up. Maybe by that time they'll have added the Knight of the Blazing Sun back in.

Ok looks like the have added certain rulessets and other changes to the servers for launch, but they have also released the list of launch server names. So I have here are my new suggested dakka guild servers both of which are under the core rule set for the game:

Red Eye Mountain - Dakka Order Guild Server
Skull Throne - Dakka Destruction Guild Server

I'm on Vortex, playing a Dwarf rune priest. PM me if you are playing on Vortex (Order or Destruction).

I joined my brother on Ulthuan playing as a Chosen.

With the headstart program now opening up to regular pre-order customers I expect to see a rise in the number of people playing as well as joining this group. So far we are up to 5 people (and a 6th from dakka who isn't sure he wants to ever be in a guild again hahaha, but thats another story). Anyways 6 people are the minimum it takes to form a guild in WAR so the guild will probably be officially running by the time the game goes live on thursday for those interested, which is good.means everyone will start to have contacts the minute they step into the world.

Also the next step. What shall the guild names be? Lets get some ideas going then we can vote. Here are the current ones on my list of suggestions others have made:

Order and Destruction Guild names:
Dakka Dakka (ofcourse )
Legion of Dakkites

Destruction Guild names:
Dakka Destruction
Da Green Tide
Dakka Dakka Coven

Order Guild names:

Heh. My computer did an autoupdate on Sunday night while I was playing that somehow completely fried my PC. I'm reformatting, reinstalling, and trying to get XP to work again, but now it's not detecting my USB mouse which means I can't reconfigure anything at the moment, which is FANTASTIC!

I personally like a third option for the order guild.

@Strimen: yeah, I was kind of peeved about that. Thought I'd get it by rolling early before going to work today, but apparently it was already taken by then. I believe I rolled an Order character on Red Eye Mountain....but at the moment, I forget the name I chose. I'll look into it a bit later.

In any event, focusing on a Destruction character in Badlands server for now.
