Dont mix range and CC abilities for alot of points, since you will only be using 1 of them in any given round. (unless you bring the pf for defensive purpouse to scare off monstrous creatures and dreadnaughts, in wich case you pay 63 points for a scary model)
Mixing plasma and melta is usually no problem but a bit of the same applies there, if you use melta on a vehicle your plasma will be wasted. Its usually the best idea to have units specified for a purpose.. tankhunters, CC or ranged infantry fights.

Perhaps. But there is more than 1 round in a game. Typically, you start off at range even if you eventually end up in assault. A Powerfist is a no-brainer for a Plague Marine since they have low Init anyway.

Only in the case of AV14 vehicles. For all other vehicles, the Plasmagun is still effective. It is especially vexing to transports.

Sometimes, "all rounder" is a purpose. Plague Marines exist to take punishment. In addition to this, you can kit them out so they are a threat to any and every unit on the board. This makes them much more difficult to ignore in favor of other units in your army - often forcing the enemy to fire on them despite the difficulty of killing them. Everything else is gravy...er, puss.

If you are using melta to take out transports you need to rethink your game plan. Kitting them out to be mediocre at two things is worse than being really good at one. If you're going after tanks, melta is the best. Anything else plasma is better because of the second shot which trumps the 2+ wound that the melta is giving you against t6 things.

"But remember that there are over 1000 chapters of spase marienz! So the SM codex has to cover over 1000 different kinds of spase marienz! Codex CSM only has to cover 1 kind (the Chaos kind). And I don't even think Eldar are a kind of spase marienz at all. Hurr!"

I disagree, I think melta/plasma works really well with plague marines. As stated, meltas rock for killing multi-wound characters except for eternal chaos boyz. killing plague boyz and necrons with no chance at a save. and generally hurting things. Plasma overlaps these functions a bit, but is slightly different in how it works these options. It is slightly better at killing infantry, and the melta is slightly better vs. vehicles. The synergy is actually pretty good, as opposed to mixing meltas with heavy bolters or something.
As to the power fist, for a fair number of armies, it seems the easiest way to deal with Plague Marines is getting them into melee, taking advantage of the way power weapons and fists ignore their FNP, as well as their fairly low Initiative. That being what it is, it makes sense to put a PF on them, since it really adds to their utility in putting them on an objective and not dying. Hard to kill with shooting, and suddenly very dangerous to assault.

plague marines are really scared of power weapons on other marines which is why they should take plasma. with plasma they have the shots and Ap to take out any marines with power weapons that are about to come in and wreck their day

While I agree that plasma is good on PMs, I find your reason nonsensical, Bastirous666. You're not going to "take out any marines with power weapons" because those Marines will be "hidden" in the same way your champ and the plasma PMs themselves are. This is obvious, right?
