From what I hear from people who've playtested /mathhammered the unit the prohibitive points cost outweighs the unit's strengths. I mean, you'd have to take at least one upgrade to make them viable - probably the one to up the number of shots or you'll never hit a thing - and a painboy is a no-brainer.

It's probably a fun unit for friendly games, but competitively speaking I doubt they're up to much. Still, great modelling opportunity!

Be sure to let us know how you get on. They may be better than anticipated.

I keep thinking about 5th Ed and honestly a unit of Biker Nobz with FNP to guard a Warboss on Bike may not be a bad idea. It's a lot of points, but can get your boss into combats which is always so nice.

Also after playing with KoS I've started to see how fragile Boyz in trukks are, I was thinking about a small unit of Mega Nobz in a Trukk to give things a go. Basically protect the trukk and send the Nobz off, how bad can it be? For the cost increase over Boyz it may be worth while if you send them into combats you know they can win.

I have both played and seen played most variations of the nob squad extensively and all I have to say is that no other unit is nearly as survivable as the nob squad on bikes with a painboy. Yes the unit comes out to 80 points a model with powerklaws and cybork bodies but then again you get at least one save against EVERYTHING. Are S8 and better templates worriesome? Yes, but then again when are they not. This is why I like to take the theoryhammer that alot of people do with units like this with a grain of salt...hell with an entire block of salt because that's about all it's worth.

Also, you dont have to give all the biker nobz powerclaws. 1 out of 5 is usually enough if you got the warboss around. The unit comes out with warboss come out about 400ish points. Not that expensive really.

in the cotext of the fact that you can add thirty more boyz and then some sort of. but i do see the point of having a little more than just numbers on your side!

With the mandatory upgrade the assault 2 guns are so excellent they easily overcome the crappy BS. But then you look at the cost… it’s prohibitive.

They need to be at least 5 points cheaper, probably 10.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

they do need to be cheaper, i agree but putting them into the context that they are basically Nobs (exact same stats) with 'eavy Armour. adding the More Dakka for Assault Two just gives them Shootas with more strength and longer range. their cost makes sense when you look at them, but not for a Heavy Support unit...

Just because they appear fairly priced when you break them down according to Nob and Nob weapon/wargear costs doesn't mean that "their cost makes sense." In the first place, Nobs themselves are somewhat overpriced. Factor in the fact that a lot of what you're actually paying for when you buy a Nob cannot be properly exploited when it comes to the Gits (no PK option) and it's clear that they're overcosted. All the "context" in the world won't change that.

I plan on running a nob biker squad with 5, 2 power klaws, and the works. Runs out at 350 points, but seems like it could be point effective and quite survivable.
