what the heck are those things you are speaking of, I've never heard of thudd guns or heavy morters, but they sound good. Are they rumored new weopens in the new codex? Speaking of which, In the new codex they should have plasma cannons and multi-meltas on the heavy weopon platforms,In a ddition to that they should have heavy stubbers and storm bolters as assault weopens. That would kick major butt!!! To bad...

They're from Imperial Armour 5. You can find the Mortars here and the Thudd Guns here.

Yeah.
Only super heavies aren't allowed (only in 2000pts plus if you include under three and 3000pts if you include over three)

Batteries (0-3 Thudd guns or 0-3 Heavy Mortars) are allowed in normal Imperial Guard armies as Elite choices.
DKoK can have 0-4 of each though (coz they love them!).

And Infernus Shells costs you 20 points. Can't remember if it's per gun or per battery. I hope it's per gun, otherwise they're even more powerful.

But yeah, as I said, 9 Heavy Mortars w/Infernus Shells. As long as your opponent's army isn't Fearless, you'll probably win. You'll lose friends, but you'll win games.

In a new store flyer, GW is claiming that missile launchers, grenade launchers and mortars will be more effective against massed formations in 5th edition, because "misses will land somewhere nearby and there are no more partial hits from blast templates."

Any thoughts on whether this makes these options more valuable and worth taking? My 7 boxes of 10 man Tallarn squads each come with missile launchers and grenade launchers, plus my basilisk strategy would be pretty cool I could employ mortars more effectively.

Grenade Launchers??? I thought Tallarn favour the Plasmagun, and that was in the box sets???

Mortars are fun! Especially my heavy mortars!! I was playing a battle a couple of weeks ago and my enemy was obilerated by them- My friend hated it and had a scowl on his face all day! (H.B.M.C. you were right!)-
