So there are! Sorry, it's a little tricky to make out from the picture. Very cool design.

Very nice.
Is that a Deathwind pod I see? Have they always gone inside the pod? Doesn't seem like a smart design choice to me.

I think that was the idea with drop-pod weapons - they were inside. A pod would land in the midst of the enemy, who'd swarm it... only for the doors to pop and a hail of death to come flying out, rather than some comparatively squishy Astartes.

I cant see it (warseer is blocked at work).
not sure how happy i am to be honest. I just spent many hours making drop pods for my marine army (all deepstriking) and now it seems it wont be so unusual.

I like it.
For attacking the drop pod in Hto H combat would you count as in combat if you touch the edges of the opened doors or the main frame?
Also for disembarction is it door edges or the main frame?

Good point TC. The insides of the model look quite detailed.

yep, as i stated in my first post Warseer is blocked here. Thanks for that tegeus-Cromis, it doesnt look half bad. Is this for the "planetfall" expansion I heard about a while ago or do you reckon it'll be for the 5th ed marine codex?

Looks pretty good! Price doesn't seem too bad either.
Hopefully with this out of the way, now GW can think about actually making large plastic kits for other races, like a Battlewagon for the orks... Or maybe GW will let marines have access to Battlewagons in 5th. They'll make them for sure then.
Pessimism and jealousy aside, it's a fine looking kit.

'Always' ... ?
This is the first official model.
The Forgeworld version of the Deathwind is a very different vehicle... although yes, it does still have the launcher inside. It simply replaces the passenger compartment...

Measurement to and from vehicles is from the hull... so I would ignore the doors and measure everything from the main bulk of the vehicle.

It doesnt look too bad but I have one issue - Why is there a Missle launcher inside a transport pod? Wasnt the whole point that the enemies swarm to the pod just to be ravaged by AC and Missles? Thats what I liked about the FW model, that you could really piss off the enemy if used correctly. However, this sorts of unbalances their rules. I like the new seats though, they look a lot more natural than the FW seats.

I bet the Missile Launcher is a new upgrade for the transport pod - perhaps to replace the Storm Bolter. It makes sense for gw to give their pretty new model more attention in the codex

"Always" as in "in the FW model," "in the fluff," etc.
I wasn't aware that the FW version replaced the passenger compartment. I had assumed they would simply have an option to add it, since the current SM dex does.

Er... the missile launcher is already an upgrade option for the Drop Pod...

Yup, the FW Deathwind Pod predates the current rules. From memory, it actually came with a couple other weapon options (twin Assault Cannons I know were one option) with the idea being for it to be a support pod to clear the area for the troops coming down in seperate pods.

So it did... I was remembering it as a razorback-style turret inside the pod. It actually has a weapon poking out each door...

If there is a splash release discounted multipack I now know to pick it up. I was just starting my first army when they released the Eldar Warwalker box. If I had realized it was "limited time" I would have picked one up. One free before 20% off? Yes, please!
I heard Rhino Priced for the pod. Here's hoping they have options for Dread Pods as well as weapon options. I'd get a few for my Wolves, and at least one for my Blood Angels configured for my Furioso Dread.
I hope the pods always block line of sight to avoid arguments and convenient modeling. Though auspex would make nice garage door openers

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.
