White Lions are fun to paint.

This started out as a Protectorate of Menoth batch...

...and ended as something I want to add to Waaagh
Gonads's Fail thread (viewable only by the DCMs!)

June vows completed:

Ancestral Guardian. Dark pic. I'll have to retake it eventually.

Skorne Immortals. I know that the basing isn't really a
good contrast for the mud-golem thing I went for, but I
like how the color matches sometimes just because it
kinda looks like the same material was used.

Titan Cannoneer. I really like how this model turned out,
and I think I like the skin enough to try it out on a Mumak
someday. The lighting doesn't like my purple paint,
though, and the ornamental domes on his back ridge
look more blue than dark purple.

I think everything from this point on is extra-bonus vows
as I didn't exactly pledge them.

The Wood Elf Lord on a Dragon is a bit mismodeled. He's
leaning an awful lot to his left on the actual model (only
slightly noticeable in the picture). Also this picture looks
a lot cleaner than the actual model, which I guess isn't
saying much.

I think the camera is generous to all my pictures.

My second Devout. I don't like how the shading went
on the white parts of the armor. For many of the models
in this series I used VGC sepia ink, and while I loved the
way it turned out on some models, I didn't like its look
on the warjack's flat panels. I wished I had used my
usual warmer browns to shade this.

Idrian skirmisher chieftain and guide. Great models.

The High Executioner Servath Reznick. What does that
scroll say, high executioner?

Of course.

Another look at his fine wrack.

I've decided that I want White Lions to be my main anvil
unit in my High Elves army. The only thing missing is a
banner for the Standard Bearer, but that shouldn't be too
difficult to do.

I decided this as I was shading the lion cloaks. I first put
down some white (it was primed black) , then VGC
Bonewhite, and when I ink washed it with VGC sepia, I
loved the look right away.

It has been a most productive month.

I turned my first 500 point Skorne army (it includes those
Immortals and Ancestral Guardians you see painted here)
into an Army Profile on the Dakka Articles System.

There it is Grand Preceptor. Awaiting the snark.

This is one of the few 40k minis I've painted all year.

Very crisp style there Malf. I like.

Grand Preceptor is too slow. You missed the mold lines (more
noticeable in person and on larger pics).

Did you deliberately size the picture down to hide the mold lines after my comments elsewhere? J'accuse!

Well, anyway, your painting is better than mine. We should form a collective- I'll trim and assemble all of both our models, and you paint them all...

was all by itself. I tend to post them as medium on here.

The collective would fail. I lose interest around the 10th model of the
same type, which is why I try to do my painting in lots.

1. It's the light.
2. Polycrylic satin clear (glossy)
3. I use a gloss medium when I ink wash.

So the answer is, yes.

That's Mr. Eldar Dreadnought to you, buddy.

I've been painting lots of random stuff, and will continue to post to this thread, if
that's permissible. I picked up two blisters of Reaper Warlord figures, simply because
I like the figures, and started with the following line troops.

Elven Deathseekers

Mercenary Spearmen

I don't know what I'm supposed to do next with my purchases (for Reaper Warlord, that is).

I like a lot of their miniatures.

Regarding Warlord: what's nice is that it's very much a skirmish game: you can play with just a Sgt., some line troops and a solo of some kind. That's pretty much where I'd direct you...

Elves are ace, btw. As is the spriggan. Very old-skool Blood Angels.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

If you click on these images, you can see the limitations of my technique. The
drybrush leaves strokes, the wash is messy, and there are bare spots.

However in the midst of a game? Yeah, not so much.

My High Elves make me happy. I still haven't figured out what color
scheme to paint a dragon for this army. A nice solid green might work
best, but I'm undecided.

I don't have any dragon models lying around, but I'd be sure to post
pics the day I started working on one. Those things are sweet kits.
