thanks. To be honest I'm not that impressd with it. However, OT a little - is that the new baneblade varient? also the siege breaker looks cool and I notice the mole launchers coming back? Could this mean that the new space marine gun has a mole mortar option too?

Yeah, I remember the crying and moaning of eldar players, concerning the wave serpent. There was that weird armorcast model, but they got shut down hard..

They did not "get shut down hard". All of the 40k products they made (as well as Epicast and Mike Biasi Studios) were made under license from Games Workshop. Forgeworld USA did "get shut down hard", because they violated the terms of their license by making and selling unaproved products. Everyone else did in fact play by the rules. Eventually, GW decided not to renew the licenses, because they wanted to make their own resin models (and hence GW's semi-independent Forgeworld company was born). Neither Amorcast nor Epicast did anything wrong, and in fact were very much wronged by GW's cancelation of their licences with, if I recall correctly, about 60 days notice. I always wished at the time I had had spare cash - they did some great deals at the end.

And for the record, while you may not like that version of the Wave Serpent that Forgeworld USA (not Armorcast) produced, the rendering of it was a faithful scaling up of the Epic model at the time. If you want to disparage someone, disparage GW itself for making the Epic model in the first place.

For more information, you can see Nick Thompson's (founder of Epicast) version of events here.

Geez, sometimes I wonder how many of you were even born when this stuff happened.

Heh, someone got up on the wrong side of bed this morning.....

I really wasn´t trying to insult or disparage anyone. I merely agreed on the fact that indeed, there was a lot of moaning about the lack of a Wave serpent.

I then commented that I remember them very suddenly not being there, and people were saying they got shut down.

Which you have just told me is EXACTLY what happened anyway, so why are you arguing with me. Thank you for clarifying the way in which it happened.

I realize also, that quite a few of the models done by armorcast/epicast/forgeworld USA were actually upscaled Epic models, but in all honesty, I never thought they were detailed enough.

Don´d take the whole "Kids today, what´s the world coming to...:" tone, please.

And again, if my post insulted you, be sure that it was not intended to.

Sorry, Xanthos, but I'm I'm with Bob Lorgar on this one...

I don't think it's a case of "someone getting out of the wrong side of the bed", but more of, "maybe somebody should have gotten their facts straight before they posted a disparaging, narky comment..." (which is how it came across to me when I read it.)

Regardless of your opinion of Armorcast's 40K work, they got screwed by GW, and if you'ld spent about 2 minutes doing ANY research on the net, you could have found out the actual history of the situation.

that's a little harsh guys. I'm not excusing ignoreance of a subject, everyone is entitled to a point of view.

some of us might as well have not been born at the time, I knew nothing about warhammer or GW and so was not 'in the word'. We all make silly mistakes, and if someone you trust says they got shut down it's normal to believe them If anyone has said asnything wrong it's surely the original person rather than the poster.

And the point about the model being under deatiled is vaild. When you scale something down the detail gets condensed. That's why GW make 3ups, so that they can model the detail in larger simpler ways. If your scalling up in the opposite way then modern companies probably would add in extra detail. Back then this may not have been normal practise but the point is still valid. If it's not liked then the buyer can always add detail themselves.

Not everyone knows every fact under the sun, I know it's The Internet Way to flame people whenever you're right, but just because you can doesn't mean you should. You could just say "No this is what happened to the guy " insert link and click sumbit.. instead of acting like someone peed in your cheerios.

We have had a lot of crying on the boards about hurt feelings, lately.

An informative post is more valuable than a polite one. Bob Logar might not be the most charming wordsmith on the web but I'm certain you're more than capable of separating the grain from the chaff.

Complaining about the way he delivers the information does not add to the value of the thread.

He may be rude but you have been enriched through his efforts, more knowledgeable about your hobby than you were before. Instead of chiding his delivery, acknowledgment of his contribution is more warranted.

He even provided a link.

Ahem. Neither Armorcast nor Epicast were "wronged" in any way whatsoever. Their licenses weren't perpetual, and they made their money, and GW cancelled per the contract terms, which aren't out of line with normal term contracts.

By not creating and owning their own IP, Armorcast and Epicast got what they deserved - a decent run of profits from a licensed property.

if you use process of elemination, i'd say the mystery turret is an Exterminator. do you see one pictured? it shows the "normal" Russ and the Demolisher. i'd say the third most popular variant could be the Exterminator.

and what about the Valkyrie sketch being used to depict the Marauder?

GW accuracy at it's finest!

Yeah, I finally got my new 5E rulebook today and was thinking similar thoughts. Considering how all the pics there looked kind of chibi-superdeformed anyway, much like the old Epic force org slots from back in the late 80's, I think it's just a SD Exterminator. That or some joker at GW said, "Hey, let's modify this pic and see how much of a shitstorm it causes among the internet crowd!"

At first my take for the Valk being used for a Marauder was, "Well, maybe the Valk is just their symbol for the Imperial Navy." Then I saw the Thunderbolt next to it. <scratches head> I don't know. And I kinda think that GW may not know either.

New codex IG has 3 russ variants in? New tank sprue with all 3 to build from?

Exterminator was in before and can return. The guns seem 4 barelled, not twin-linked as the old metal one.
A 4x shot autocannon perhaps? sponsons with heavy flamers ?

When the exterminator gets a better autocannon, the predator destructor will be much worse than now!
