Sphere's going to be a 2" diameter fiber optic, which is the same kind as what's shown, but larger, and it will of course be green.

And for the migraine thing... It's not a coincidence that I had that side facing the camera. It's the base from a paper weight advertising some migraine medication or another. My mom's a ranking nurse on her floor at the hospital, and when she goes to conventions she brings back several bags full of tons of free crap that they were giving out. I've held onto this base for ~years knowing it would come in handy one day, lead weighted as it is. I was tempted to cross out Migraine and write in Bolter or something to make it more so fitting.

So with my internet down, the constant house cleaning, lack of funding, and me generally being a slack arsed procrastinator I've not been updating in a couple of weeks. I've finally got my internet back up, and with `Ard Boyz in just a couple of days it's time for me to really get the nose to the grindstone. Here's a couple shots of the Monolith so far.

I've got all the main paneling on it. Let the glue dry up good overnight (plus it's past my bed time) and I'll grind down the plasticard where it sticks out so it's all flush more. It will still be lacking some of the details and trim I want to get done, such as all the green rods, but I'm going to call it "assembled" for now. One thing I'm up in the air on right now, is the panels on the inside around the central orb. I originally planned to grind those down flush (a square and two triangles), but seeing it now, I think I may leave it more as is as I kind of dig it.

Yeah, I'd say leave 'em. It makes the sections look closer together.

You know, you CAN get battery operated plasma balls. Just tossing that out there...

I like where this is going, though I might put forth that it should be more than a mere monolith. It needs some Apoc super heavy rules to really describe how cool it is

This is my prototype version. If I decide I like how it turned out, I plan to convert my current two over to match. THEN I build an Apoc "Doomsday Monolith" version. Current thoughts on the Doomsday would be to use one and a half monoliths, giving it six pillars.

As for a plasma ball, a quick look see doesn't show anything smaller than 3". The current build is designed around a 2" sphere.

The one shown is just a tad smaller than 2", and is being used for now because I am poor.

Alright, it's "assembled" for now. Got a shot of it next to a normal monolith, warrior, and one of my destroyers for scale.

Did I mention before that the base is fairly modular? One of the reasons I'm not messing with any kind of lighting or anything. Here's a shot of it Immobilized and one of it Wrecked.

These guys has better pull their weight tomar... Er, I mean later today given I've now stayed up several hours longer than I wanted to trying to get them done. My own fault though, since I've had em for some time and just procrastinated putting them together.

Now to get the last of my stuff collected up and ready to go, and then hit the sack.

It... Never really occured to me to put marbles into the corners like that. That's really interesting, I'm going to have to ponder on that one. What size did you use?

Between losing my bottle of glue at the `Ard Boyz, and the bottle I got to replace it being defective, I've not gotten much done. I did get a Heavy Gauss Cannon done before I got sick of messing with the glue however.

What this?! I actually painted something! Not gotten much built because of my glue issues, but I did get one of my Destroyers painted, because I didn't partially disassemble this one for priming as his wings were at such a higher angle from his body. I went ahead and threw my Heavy Gauss Cannon in again just for scale.

I gotta say, I was kind of iffy about this whole project up until I saw one painted. It's really impressive. The only thing I might add is that you may want to make the Lord more fancy, perhaps give him a cloak or some sort of rune-engraved shoulder-pads or something so that he'll stand out. Can't wait to see a whole unit done.

That's some impressive painting there, unique modeling also. Well done.

I think the corner spheres were 15mm? I'm pretty sure the large sphere was 40mm. Let me just say that they were slightly larger than the plastic ball joint that is supposed to go there, and therefore a huge pain to get to fit correctly.

Don't I wish. Between store cred for running the Tuesday night league, placing second in a tournament last Sunday, and finding out a friend of mine had a ton of Necron stuff he purchased when they first came out, that stack of stuff only cost me ~$30.

I may be a lazy procrastinator, but once I get busy, I can really get shtuff done. Built all the guns on Thursday. Legs on Saturday. Got em pretty much finished today. Need to stop by the music shop for more guitar string for the wires, and the hobby shop for more plasticard for some more bases tomorrow. The flight packs arn't quite done yet, but I'm not going to be putting those on until the end of the week. They're alot easier to paint that way, and I hope to get some of them done before the tourny. Now I need to finish a unit of 5 normal Destroyers.

Anyways... First shot is a pair of Heavy Destroyers showing off their guns with the green rods set in place but not glued. Second is a group shot of both units of three.

Because it occurs to me that I've pretty much only done finished pics on the Destroyers, here's a WIP shot of my current batch, which so far just consists of their legs and guns. The guns are all built, including the hands that hold it. The legs I'm giving Testors Plastic Cement another shot at, so they're going to be given ~18 hours or so to get all set up and hopefully hold better than it's been, then I'll dremel down the plasicard flush to the legs.
