When a 'necron' goes down and it has a model of its own type within 6" or a tomb spyder within 12" and it is not denied a WBB roll for whatever reason it gets its WBB roll.

Said 'necron' does not automatically rejoin its old unit, it joins the closest unit of its type.

Ex: if you move two warrior units as shown below and unit 1 (X) has 3 casualties all chosen on the right flank (designated 1, 2, 3), all three make their WBB rolls.
1 joins unit 1, 3 joins unit 2 (Y) and 2 joins witchever of unit 1 and unit 2 that happens to be the closest, I cant tell from this example.

XXXXXXX123YYYYYYYYYY

Thus a downed 'necron' within 12" of a tomb spyder may very well join a unit on the complete oposit side of the board if the unit he originally belonged to is wiped and this unit on the other side of the field is the closest unit.

We now come to the phase out and reentering through the monolith...

The monolith states that any model in the unit that failed its WBB may reroll, the only question then is the question if the model downed far away now is considered in the unit it would join if it repairs.

As the WBB rules state that it joins the unit when it repairs I would say no, the downed necron is not part of that unit at that time.

In short GW rulings are void!

Not ambiguous.

You join based on the closest unit, not the model. You measure models for wbb rolls.

If I am still in a unit, then I should stay in the unit I am in.

Are you stating that I have to measure range to the unit I am in? How the heck would I do that?

Semantics... you measure the range to the nearest unit by measuring the range to the nearest model in that unit.

Except the rules don't support that. The rules say you will join the nearest unit, regardless if it is your unit, or a different unit. That is part of what makes WBB oh so special.

Of course I am. How else would you know which one is closer? You would measure the range to the closest undamaged model in the unit. The rules are clear, you do not consider damaged models for range concerns....

And again, I bring up the monolith. It is very clear, and very explicit, you can port through a unit, and the damaged models that are part of that unit. If, as you say, the damaged models are no longer part of that unit, they may *not* go through the portal, and thus makes that ability meaningless.

So when the new dex comes out and {most likely} FNP comes in.. ya think theyll get all these issues ironed out.??

I'm actually hoping that they don't do feel no pain, but keep WBB, just make it much clearer, take out the guess work. If you're going to go with FNP, there had better be something else pretty awesome they get to compensate, or you might as well play Nurgle marines. Get the higher toughness, fearless, better gear layout (no gauss but it was nerfed anyhow when 5th came about), higher init, and the ability to pull in a lot of other options that are very useful.
