i find it interesting that on most peoples lists are orks, yet because everyone thinks orks might win they will make anti ork builds. meaning orks will not win

I don't think Orks scale up very well to the 2500 point level. I also think that the table may be too crowded for 2500 of Ork mob. 2.5 hours may not be enough time for a horde of that size to secure a win.

I am leaning towards CSM's.

My pick goes to SOB or Black Templars. Preferred Enemy is amazing.

I sort of concur with Darrian. I think that in an untimed scenario the Orks can't be stopped, but CSM play much quicker, and in an Objective based game their troop choices and the Lash are both incredible.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

That's the little one-eyed green guy in "Monsters, Inc."
Billy Crystal did his voice.

Remember? The little cartoon girl kept saying, "Ron Saikowski!"

No, the guy from Monsters Inc was Mike Wazbowski.

I vote for Black Templars to do well. And the Sully, the big blue furry monster from Monsters Inc.

The new Witch Hunters FAQ doesn't say anything about celestians having preferred enemy, so I think Holy Hatred is now played as written in the codex. Celestians still hit on 3+, whereas models with preferred enemy now roll to-hit using their WS but are allowed rerolls.

No they dont. They have Holy Hatred, always hit on a 3+ except against MCs and ICs and there is nothing in the FAQ to say otherwise.

I call it the exact list I took to the finals last time.

Some are glass as glass half-full type of person.

Some are a glass half-empty.

Sounds like a great list, if it were legal.

3 x 3 oblits as heavy
3 man termi unit in land raiders X 3
perfectly legal
lash princes not good, will get shot to hell.
lash sorcerers in a twenty man troop unit better.

I'm not a tourney player, but the 2.5 hour round rule really makes me reconsider my first thought that it is Nurgle and Orks. I play with really relaxed folks, so for us that would be turn 3, maybe 4. Do folks actually finish 5-7 round games of 2500 points in 2.5 hours?

I know there is a lot of firepower in 2500 points, but I still have to think that a 3rd or 4th turn Lashing of enemies away from an objective might be game winning. At 3" range for objective scoring even The Masque and her cronies can pull it off.

Usually if it vet players time is not a factor. Lots of new people usually takes more time. So after the first rounds things usually really pick up.

But a Landraiders transport cap is 5 termies. Wouldn't that make you take 15 termies and 3 land raiders?

Also, does anyone know if GW has posted the venues anywhere yet? They're not listed on the GW site. It's making it really hard for me, I like to have more than 2-3 weeks notice about big things like this, especially since I don't know if there are any local ones...

The first qualifier should be anywhere 40K is played a lot. Call your local stores to find out. The regional qualifiers will be around 20 locations if last year is any indication. Our local store, Krystal Keep in Kettering Ohio is saying they got approved for a regional, so that's less travel for me and my buddies, provided of course I qualify.

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Chaos termies come in squads of 3 to 10. You don't play chaos, do you? Because if you do and you don't know that you should probably get a few more games under your belt before you try the 'Ard Boyz. Not being sassy, just saying that's not the tourney to start out in. These guys are out for blood, man!
