that wasnt what i was saying. havent you ever seen a thread brought back to life that you missed and said, thats cool and been thankful someone brought it back up?
i know i have so i was questioning whether it should be frowned upon because of that.
that's all i'm trying to say.
i see everyone's point but when it comes to the modeling section i guess i'm in the minority opinion of it not being all that bad on this one.
Frankly, no, any gain realized from exposure to old threads (hey, I missed that last time!) is balanced by not seeing whatever thread you bounced off the main page by resurrecting it. Also keep in mind that rules are created, maintained, and enforced by people that visit regularly. The odds of them missing something is pretty low, while the odds of them being pissy about the necromancy is high.
I freely admit that it's probably one of the more odd netiquette rules that have survived to the forum age and are still enforced, but what I find even more baffling is the resistance/animosity/disrespect people seem to have for the rule. A poster above seemed to think that some of us have too much free time and want to tell people what to do on the internet. It's a rule that exists for a loud minority, but it's an important minority, and it's Yak's house, and Yak's rules. I feel that we've done a very good job explaining why it's bad.
