The carapaces are coming out really shiny with the finish Im spraying them with. Ill not finish the bases with this shiny effect. Currently I havent been inspired with a basing scheme, woodland, city, desert...

Desert is likely in that I can use a good contrasting color with a soft yellow high light, though Im thinking I may go with the darkgreen/limegreen crystals for an accent color.

I think youre right - Ill also connect the Flyrants arms with the scaled ridge on the edge of the wings with purple.

Horrific Hive Tyrant

London (work) / Pompey (live, from time to time)

if you go with a city base with a sort of green tint it will show the models up niely.

Do you mean a green highlight or a green wash? I agree with the green being a good contrast. I was thinking of basing with a light earth tone and giving it a dark brown wash then using light green static grass in patches.

Will this pass as a Hive Tyrant....I started out making him a Broodlord then I thought I like another Hive Tyrant. He's a 3rd edition Ravenor with some Epic Bio-Titan legs and some Claws from the new Carnifex sprue.

Looks more like a ravener to me, but its a tyranid, they evolve like everyday, so yeah, aslong as it has 6 limbs and looks like its a nid it should be alright

I was afraid of that. Ill try and take a pic that shows its legs more. I was hoping the scale would be close enough to pull it off.

Another option I can do would be to add a head from a real Hive Tyrant

Overall I like how nimble and quick the model looks but its just not bulkie enough to pull off the Hive Tyrant role convincingly.

Instead of the usual Bone colored claws, I'd do something different. Like dark brown maybe. Ever see real bear claws? They're black and brown. You could also try black claws with red highlights since you already have a nice dark look to them.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.
