Added 2 more Oblits and another Elite Term Squad mounted in a Land Raider. Troops are dedicated Obj Grabbers in Obj games and have Icons in case I need to call down Oblit support on them. Once again please post comments, I reallly need some honest feedback.

Howdy jp400,

Your revised list is looking much better to this jaded old hack.

Though why you ever doubted Abaddon is a mystery, he is the closest thing to the one model army there is.

Now I see where you are coming from with the landraiders, they are the latest best thing on the block, but PLEASE! Terminators can deep strike, that is the best transport in the game!

You want Abaddon to endure! easily fixed, place in squad of 10 terminators, 2 heavy flamers, cos some things have hordes, cover saves, 6 comi-weapon melta guns, cos some things have armour, 2 combi-flamers, cos some things are numerous, you don't have to fire them all at once you see. 2 Power fists for all the right reasons! An Icon, any icon, choose the one you like the best! DEEP STRIKE. You can deep strike and shoot right, so the flamers, and bolters and melta shots will secure your landing zone, and Abaddon with his ten supporting bastards will destroy anything on the side of the table he's on. OK!

Abaddon is EXTREMELY powerful, in this squad he becomes godlike because they give him endurance, his four wounds is his single fragility, and the demon weapon nerf if you roll a 1 (ouch).

Once he drops he does have to walk. Sad if there is no terrain!

With this format you can drop the landraiders.

You have also simplified your tactics, and the choice of where to land is the main thing.

* Change four obliterators to three and make them seperate units. Tactical flexibility and multiple firepoints are more usefull than weight of fire in most battles. Underkill and drawing fire is as good as overkill (excess unused shots)

Abaddon is here, you don't need to fear failure.

* Dont use troops with Rhinos for CC, too many points too much driving about, too much investment waiting for function. You don't need anything much. Squads of ten with two plasma guns will suffice. Troopen MARCH!

* Instead lieutenant big Abby with a flying Daemon Prince, Mark of Slaneesh, but not lash of Submission, with Wind of Chaos, deepstrike somewhere nice and shoot the template on something. Timing and placement always important. Land close enough to the boss to threaten double trouble. Guys love that! Like Abby, they can now assault you, What's left of them. He gets to fly where Abby can't! And that template is fun! Weeee!

* Need an icon to get the Deepstrike on target, give it to a minimum squad of raptors, with some meltabombs and meltaguns too.. They just might kill a few things before securing your DS zone, or after....

* Let the troops walk. Who cares about the damned troops! they are only targets and distractions, the tools and toys of their master. Let them walk, let them crawl, let them die except the minimum to "hold ground" (As if the Black Master cares about holding ground)

*With raptors, deep striking obliterators, and a flying DP all giving the other guy the willies, he will be ready to give up when Abby with ten well equipped termies drops near his command, kills everything within 12" with melta shots and fire and then says, "Would you like to Assault ME????".

With all that happening whatever troops you have, will be able to achieve quite a bit.

Landraiders are great, but I think flying things are so much more fun, and do you really want 450 points in things that broadsides can kill with their first lucky shot???? Daemons, Termis, cover saves, mobility, invulnerable saves, no instant kill, there is so much fun to be had that is not a landraider.

Stop trying to play safe hiding in your big pillboxes!make the other guy really scared wondering which part of his poor army you are going to fall onto! The battles will be more fun and losing will also be hilarious! (deep strike off table...hahahaha!!!)

The Gods of Chaos will be pleased.

dont mean to be mister negative but the only army this would hold up against is other small armies (dark angels, maybe eldar, mech guard.) as far as a tourney list forget it.

Chaos is one army that has a tough time, especially if your loading up points into squads, you would do better to beef up the termies and deep strike them, this works ok but still not good. Assault/hoard armies are going to eat this for b-fast and ask for more. Shooty armies are going to make you take millions of saves and you dont have the models to soak up your losses. The saving grace are the Land raiders (best unit in the game) you may be able to force draws because of the raiders but you will be hard pressed to win a game. try to beef up the termies, 4 termies arent going to do anything, like I said maybe make a 8 man unit and deep strike, use the other 4...for god knows what...sorry I cant think of a single thing 4 termies are good for. if your playing objectives your screwed and 2 of the 3 missions are objectives. Kill points...you have 16 in your force, which is A LOT! if you scale it back and maybe have 5-6 VP for your army you may win by victory points if your opp. has a lot. The big draw back to deep striking, its ok against small armies, against bigger ones it sucks. Why? you say, well one the army is spread out, you have to deep strike a way from them (you cant go behind or to the flanks) or risk the deep strike chart. heavy flamers are ok but again useless against large armies, youll maybe get 2-4 (if the player isnt a complete doofus and actually spreads his stuff out) but most likely 1. sure you can shoot the bolters but again half will hit and half will wound so what maybe another 2-3 die again big deal. then what you have 10 termies holding their junk while the other player decides how he/she wants to humiliate you for taking 400 some odd points and sticking them right in front of their army. Stealers/orks will plow thrugh them and thank you forgiving them an extra 7-13" free movement (6" assault d6 consol.) necrons/guard/eldar will just dedicate a squad to wipe them out. Marines will waste a turn shooting the entire army at you and then assaulting to get rid of the 2-3 termies that are left.

This list isnt going to win anything. Its a fun list to play Ill give you that, but if your looking to win tourneys, go back to the drawing board. Good Luck

as stelek said, mix abbadon with maybe kharn and could even have a small unit of chosen or zerkers, mount em in a landraider, then drop em off in your opp's army, then watch and laugh.

pro's: high killing power, the LR gives them the protection to get there.

Cons: dont expect to take much more in the way of an army lol

now your getting somewhere. Its starting to look like a CSM army now. Maybe get rid of a oblit squad for a land raider, you cant underestimate how deadly those things are now. They can literally win the game for you, Ive seen 2 Land Raiders still alive and kicking after everything was gone, granted they cant take objectives but they can contest, they can kill and they are damn hard to destroy. Can chaos take crusaders or some version of it? Assault cannon, with PMSing multi melta and 6 bolters is nasty.

Hmm,
Ive considered LR but the only problem is that the only squad id throw in it is too big to even fit inside. Sure they are nasty in 5th but only one lone LR isnt going to scare anyone. Id also hate to pull my oblits cause they are the only ranged AT I have in this list. Im really relying on my INF to spend the first turn or two running toward cover/ Obj and then calling down everything else. Maybe dropping the Termies or the DP on the back 9 to cause terror in the enemys rearguard. I wish I could still have my Rhinos for my troops for the added speed they give, but I need the points elsewhere.

Since the Khorne Termies are more wound sponges for Abby then anything do you all think I should keep em the way they are or give em a different mark? (Nurgle, perhaps tzeentch?) the +1 attack is Nice, but do I really need it?

Also as always C&C is always welcome about the list.

Abaddon is amazingly effective when he's able to get into combat. Last game I used him in (2500 pt vs blood angels) In the first 3 turns he was on the field he ate my friends entire 7 man VAS squad with 3 pfists and 5+ invuln (in one turn), almost a whole 10 man death company (in the next turn), and commander dante (in the 3rd), almost by himself. It was beautiful

I normally field him with terminators, but that game he landed first next to some raptors that were already locked in combat (luckily) with practically my friends entire close combat half of his army.

Although he most certainly does need assurance that he'll get into CC. The best way to go about it IMO is with terminators with IoT and nothing else special. Even just 5 or 6 of these guys to soak up bullets on the way in on a deep strike or running into combat. Their terminator armor and 4+ invulnerable will make em damn near impossible to kill in at the very least the first turn they're on the field. The only other thing I'd consider giving them is combi-plasma, so they have some nasty cover fire when they land.

In my 3000 pt army I'm probably going to field him with 10 of said termies with IoT and combi-plasma. Then as long as he gets into CC unphased he'll lay waste to just about anything, whether it be a big mean assault squad with lots of powerfists or a big ugly tank that need's bashing.

I may or may not follow this with kharn in a land raider. The rest will be a wall of 4 plague marine units followed by 2 berserker units (plague marine unit cover ftw!) and 2 defilers.

Hence termies soak up bullets and play the part of the shield + Abaddon does the rest in CC = wtfdestruction.
