MY WARPHEAD! he makes people cry. in one game he blew up a landraider, a squad of marines and bezerkers. and when he gives a group of 30 boys the +1 attack, i usually see about 100+ die to roll in CC.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Ruglud's Armoured Orcs are my favourite GW unit in general - that's just modelling.

For fluff my fave is probably Bad Moons in 40k. Orks that are rich because their teeth grow faster, and therefore have powerful guns, despite being no better at using them. I've wanted a Bad Moons army since 2nd ed... I just knew they'd be a rubbish list.
Back to the point, there apparently is no real economic foundation for the trade of teef, but the larger numbers of them somehow add up to their meks making more insane equipment than anyone else. It drives the point on Ork psychhology home - if an Ork thinks he is rich, and knowingly imparts some of this wealth to a mek, the mek could probably just sit there and look at it for half an hour, bash it some (if it looks like it needs it), and give it back, and it would have more dakka (like the sound of a clapped out engine might suggest). And we fiddle around with plasticard and plastic tubing thinking THAT's how it must work... totally missing the point. One day my army will come, and it will be absolutely bristling with extra plastic tubing. You know it.

Finally, for sheer killiness, I love nothing more than Old Un-Reliable, the Ratling Gun, and the entire idea of Skaven techno-sorcery in general.

I don't even have an orc army any more, and I've never had an ork army.

wait wait wait wait... huh..?

Alright... I found something really cool in the deamon hunters codex.

The Inquisitor lord with lots of retinue. Why? because every single one of those 12 guys can get a flamer for 5 points. and the inquisitor can get enough anti MC smackdown to scar the hell outta anything.

whats dis? you's gots a lots of boyz eh?

we got 12 flamers, 1 psycannon, and a MC thunderhammer.

you die.

Oh.. and put that in a landraider crusader... just in case you don't have neough anti-infantry weapons (hey.. it could happen)

Well in terms of effectiveness I'd say WHFB Blood Knights, those things are just plain beastly AND they count as vampires. As far as fluff goes, first I'd like to point out that i'm disappointed in everyone except Ol' Boy who mentioned Ruglud and his Boyz. Now me, I have to say Schaeffer and his Last Chancers are the coolest, most hardcore characters in the game.

My fave fluff would have to be an Eversor assasin. They are assasins that do a really messy job, but there hell of a good at it!

Dreadnoughts, any kind of em, in fact i just love walkers, my space marine army never leaves home without at least one dreadnought two if possible, have been using the chaos ones atm and whilst they are unpredictable they are incredibly fun and after all these years im still in love with the old second ed dreadnought (mine have plasma cannons and thunder hammers)

Marneus Calgar:

'Nuff said.

Land Raiders and Dreadnoughts:

I've got 5 Land Raiders, including one of the old RT-era ones. I even bought a Land Raider by accident once. So much fun. And Dreads. I love my Dreads, especially now that I have all the arms for them. Thanks Forge World!!

The Griffon:

It's the little arty tank that just keeps giving. I don't trust Basilisks as they're too big a target for the enemy. But the Griffon? It's small enough and 'only AP4' so people tend to ignore it. I make sure they don't repeat that mistake.

Inquisitorial Storm Troopers:

I don't care how bad Storm Troopers are compared to other units, I love 'em. Nothing quite as thrilling as watching a line of 6 Chimeras filled with Kasrkin racing across a battlefield in a big game of Apoc, and then getting mulched by 6 10-strong units of Khornate Chosen. HAHAHAHAH!

Sentinels:

I love the Sentinel model. I've got 20 of those little things, and although I've yet to use all of them succesfully (had an Apoc game where they came in and spent the next two turns running away from a Bloodthirster as it ate one squadron a turn), but they're a fun unit that always manages to do something interesting.

Best story came from the 'Over-Enthusiastic Warlock' who charged a Sentinel, smacked it with its Witchblade, the Sentinel exloded, and the explosion killed the Warlock's squad, leaving the Warlock standing alone in a crater surrounded by dead bodies.

Drones:

I have a long-standing hatred of the Tau. I will ignore objectives, loyalties and alliances if it means I can kill more Tau. But there's one Tau unit that I respect and fear in equal measure - the Drone.

Drones have always been the bane of my existance in games. The first time I faced them was with my brand new Chaos army after the 2nd 3rd Ed Codex (ie. the ony real Chaos Codex since the 2nd Ed Codex) came out. I had my Oblit (I had only built one of the three that came in the army box), and he was going to carve some stuff up. Along comes a 6-drone Drone Squadron. I think it will be easy... then I find out Drones have Initiative four. Spent the rest of the game swatting those things out of the sky.

From that point on we've watched Drones win games, and not just the Squadron, but the 2 that come off Devilfish. Best example of that was 2 Drones that detached and attacked a Seer Council in an Ulthwe Strike Force army. The Drones shot and killed a Warlock, then charged, killed another Warlock, the Seer Council wiffed their attacks, failed their Morale Check, and were chased off the table by two Drones!!!. That was also a game where 8 Firewarriors took down the Avatar in HTH. Bad day for the Eldar...

Lictors:

Another terrible unit incalable of killing anything, my adoration for the Lictor stems from 2nd Ed, when they were worth taking and they could carve up just about anything. WS7 and A4 was a huge deal back then as it could go toe-to-toe with a Marine Captain and have a good chance of winning. Greatest (and longest) battle with a Lictor was vs a Chief Librarian in Terminator Armour. Psychic Scream kept stunning the Librarian, but its Armour kept it alive, so the Lictor and Librarian stayed on combat for the whole game. Don't remember who won in the end...

Finally,

Commissars:

I love Commissars. Over the top guys with huge hats executing people for cowardice and screaming challenges to the enemies of the Emperor. I own every Commissar model and cannot wait for the new ones to come out with the new Guard Codex.

Commissars capture what the Guard is about for me, even more than my legions of infantry and battalion of tanks. Pity they're utterly useless in game.

Always loved several of the dogs of war units from warhammer... ricco's republican guard, braganza's besiegers, volands venators, infact i have always promised myself if i land in a club with some decent fantasy players to build an army hailing from Estalia using a mixture of these minatures and canons etc from empire... so love the minatures dont really have a clue about how good they are in game though.

Otherwise i love storm troopers, may not be that great in game but something about the minatures and fluff i like.

Oh and the steel legion range, not only do they look awesome, they also look crap enough in equipment and size etc to deserve the guard stat line

Storm Troopers: Just always thought these guys were cool.

Inquisitors in Terminator Armor: I used one ALL the time in 2nd ed. pumped up with psychic powers and a Vortex Grenade. Whatever he couldn't handle, the grenade took care of.

Baneblade: I love tanks!

Space Wolf Characters: Ragnar, Njal, Ulrik and Grimnar all look awesome, and have some of the most fleshed out histories imo in 40k!

imperial guardmen. standard issue lasgun, an old helmet and dirty boots. and somehow, within all those game where they get brutally killed, sometimes, it happens:

The 2 or 3 guy left in the squad after getting assault by some terminators finally attacked back and kill one of them.

The image of 3 guardsmen "bashing in" the helmet of a terminator is the only reason I have been playing guard for the last 10 years.
