So... What should i do then? I played last night and I tried to shoot with my warriors after teleporting them to the other side w/ monolith, but my opponent didn't allow me to.

diagram:

XX MMMMMM WW
XX MMMMMM WW
XX MMMMMM WW
XX MMMMMM WW

X for target
M for monolith
W for Warrior

He said that it has to "float" for the warrior to be able to shoot under the monolith. It didn't came with one though... So I actually can make my own base and model the warrior for "Fish of Fury" a la Necron?

The best thing that you can know about yourself is that you finally realized that you're good at something. For knowing that: Priceless. Anything else, just kill yourself.

Depends entirely upon how you base the Monolith.

If you base it far enough off the ground that you can draw line of sight from the body of the model to the body of the model across underneath the monolith, you can certainly shoot through. If not, no shot.

The rulebook actually covers this pretty well, even allowing for variation in base height and only once allowing a skimmer-type to remove its base - when it is immobilized or destroyed. Heck, if you can't remove the base, it even talks about making said vehicle a floating, literal line of sight wreck.

... .

The LoS has to be drawn from the head to the body.

Given most squads, at least in my experience, have at least one or two models in a kneeling position, if you can draw, on a level field, a line from body of the model to the body of the model, that's acceptable. Heck, even the example on page 16 shows more concern going from high point to low point, not body to body. Otherwise just about every piece of GW terrain that comes with windows will invalidate just about every Space Marine from shooting out of it on account of their upright position making their head taller than the top of the window they stand next to.

I'm just saying what the RAW is. TLoS applies differently from shooter to target than the opposite. If a squad has one guy kneeling, he can see through the low gap but the others can't.

i never thought people would argue about putting a base on a monolith. but wow, the guys that play in your LGS must have bad memories about the monolith.

Alright, here's a question for ya. Models must be mounted on the base they come with. Monoliths do not come with a base. Can you put a Monolith on a base anyways if you choose?

use a brass rod and a large flying base and a washer.. it's very easy to do and once painted no one will even know the base is wieghted.

Depending on your interpretation of the phrase "the model must be mounted on the base it is supplied with".
