frgsinwntr, always take smaller squads of Warriors over larger ones due to the new rules for resolving close combat. Necrons are extremely easy to be beaten in assault and then caught in a Sweeping Advance. Necrons are pretty good about not giving up KPs and this is even less of an issue with the 'Ard Boyz rules where killing Troops counts for very litte, relatively speaking.

Someone wanted a effective build to run pariahs in.

Unfortunately, this is an oxymoron. Pariahs are nothing more than a points-sink until they see a revamp

Also, while I don't agree with a Destroyer-less list, I can see where you're going with it and I'll attempt to change the list around a bit to go with what I find works for Necrons.

Remove:
1x Gaze of Flame = 15 pts
10x Pariah = 360 pts
3x Tomb Spider = 165 pts
3x Tomb Spider = 165 pts
3x Tomb Spider = 165 pts

Exchange with:

10x Immortal = 280 pts
1x Monolith = 235 pts
1x Monolith = 235 pts

This also leaves you with 120 points to play around with. I suggest more Warriors. You can also lose the Monoliths and use the points for Heavy Destroyers, although I like the trickery you can do with a pair of Monoliths

I gotta say, it is an interesting list. I don't know 'crons that well, but with a phase out of 10 (I think) it might not be so squishy as it seems. It would seem that in most missions you could leave one warrior squad sitting in cover on an objective, so unless they kill the lord, immortals and other warriors down to the last man, you won't phase out. Presumably they would have more pressing matters at hand before that happened.

Still, I would be a little worried about what 5th edition will do to the prevalence of blast weapons in most armies. In all the games we have played they have performed admirably, either hitting on target or drifting so little it hardly mattered, so much so that nearly all of us are thinking of how to cram more into the lists. Your scarabs might pay dearly for that increase in efficiency.

IG can't beat scarabs in CC, no matter how Mathhammer Fu one might try to apply.

But its just a battle of wall tactics right? The IG use their swarms of guard to keep your guys away from their tanks, meanwhile, they bombard your warriors and immortals with basilisks.

I know that they can't beat scarabs in CC, but thats not what they have to do. They just delay your forces until your forced to phase out. What am I missing?

And also, a hell hound or two could really mess up your scarabs

That is the point. I'd never risk moving the Warriors forward, that isn't their point in most games anyway. They'll have a 3+ or a 3+ cover save at all times.

Well, they have nice cover saves. Nothing you can do if they get past that, but since it's only one turn of firing vs a 2+ save...well, go ahead.

They don't delay, they run away.

120 attacks.
60 hit.
30 wound.
20 guard die.

How many wounds did you manage with your uberskill?

Let's say 40 guard get assaulted.

40 attacks.
20 hit.
10 wound.
6 wounds.

So those 40 guard lose by 14 and promptly run away?

Yeah, sign me up.

That's not counting the fun tomb spyders running forward, and the usual 6-9 swarms each spyder unit generates before they can get into combat...yeah, everyone seems to have forgotten that part.

Don't forget with Pariahs around, you can't save yourself with a super CC unit like Seraphim, Canoness, or GKT. Pariahs kill those, so you'd better shoot them dead.

I like all the alternate lists being suggested. It seems getting away from a shooty-only Necron list is just too distasteful for some. Oh well.
