Just curious, why are you referring to it as the 'Stelek council'? It has been used for several years by many people (well before he began to post here) and the shooty version you are talking about was referred to as the 'kyoto pattern' or something similar on this site when the book came out. At the very least, it's not anyone's council, but can be referred to as a mystic retinue.

I don't know that Scouts die so fast in melee Squig. Sure, you aren't going to send them head to head with a full tac squad of CSM, or assault marines, but a firebase unit? That seems like a really good target, and they have the flanking ability to pop out and go for those. Lower WS and Sv aside, they are still I 4 and T4, meaning they at least go simultaneously with marines, and faster than just about anything else other than 'nids and eldar, hit hard with Str4, and carry a fist. I think that would make a lot of lootas, devastators, firewarriors, sniper teams or really any other "sit back and shoot" units very sad indeed.

I believe Stelek Pattern refers to the dirt cheap Hood and 2 Mystics version of Inq.
The shooty one has been Kyoto Pattern as far as I can remember.

I think it depends a lot on the size of army you're playing and where you're playing it. In a tournament environment with relatively high point totals that Inq Lord could be a world of help as drop pod lists become more and more prevalent. The old school psychic hood is a nice add on too. If I was trying to put out a winning list in a low soft score tourny I tihnk I've trouble not including one.

That's why you Cluster Mine their ruins.

not bad, but its just a case of parking a skorcha next to them and watch it earn more than its own points back.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

Right. If you let a scorcha get that close. And know that piece of terrain is Cluster Mined.

I always run an Inq with my Sisters, and she rarely dies ever. Maybe 2 times out of 15 games that I can remember. With 36" range guns, you can park her in cover towards the back, and require lots of extra effort for your opponant to reach her, while she happily has her robots pepper whatever needs it.

I would happily hose down a skorcha with heavy bolter and plasma cannon fire if it chose to swing on by I often run scourging on the Inq if I have the points, so that's an extra d6 S5 shots right there. Not so squishy as you think perhaps.

I think combat squading a 10-man squad into a fire base (4xSR and HB) and a 4xCCW+BP/PF, Combi-flamer and mounting that five man on a landspeeder storm makes for a darn fine unit. You get your control unit for objectives and your fire base assault unit that can hit the enemy turn 1 if you need them too. only downside is that the Storm takes up a FA choice and with the reduction in all FA priced units (except for speeders) i see a lot of fast attack being used in the future.

Hulksmash:

There's an idea. I think the Land Speeder Storm has the Scouts rule, so you could split them up to cover both enemy flanks.

Oh they do Nurglich, they do

It's what makes it work, you could even actually start them on the table and move them all out before the first turn (if i remember right) and be on those support units just as your drop podders land or your bikes tear up the field. I think they'll be a great addition to a white scars army since the rest of your army is gonna be moving so fast.

OC FTW

Dirt cheap: elite Inq 20 pts, 2 mystics 12 pts. 32 points. Walk them behind your vindicator, or put them in a rhino bought for a tac/devastator squad for 35 points. Maybe your opponant doesn't have any DS units, but well nigh every army does now that all jump pack units DS. Tau, SM, CSM, Daemons, Drop IG, DH, WH, Orks, all those have deep strikers. Spikey and Smooth Eldar can both as well, though it isn't common.
If you want Psychic defense, you buy another mystic and get an Inq Lord and Hood, for 51 points extra.
You can also do a saltier squad, with Inq Lord with Hood and psycannon, Servitors with 3 HB or 2 HB and 1 PC, 2 Sages, 2 Mystics. More expensive, but it makes a nice shooting base as well as psychic and deep striker defense

Sure it's a gimmick but I bring it with me wherever I go.
Almost everybody I play has some deepstriking units worth getting the jump on for 32 points.
It helped me to table a demon army in the ard boys tourny.

And as for apoc games you can just park them next to a titan.
Do i need to say anything else?

Oh and the scout thing works pretty well too. Idk what you guys are smoking.
