Thanks Mannahnin.
I had a GREAT game against the guy who got third last year at the 'ardboyz. Can't remember his full name, Nathan something, but he played a tight and respectful game. I wish all opponents could be like that.
After going over the numbers and such for my Ork models, it seems like the only way to push the points is by conversions and such. Did anyone else request orks? Did anyone else receive the same models I did?

I received Orks. And it was short, hence why I posted the "Check the points! " warning last page. My army was off by 725pts.
I got:
Big Mek w. SAG
6 Battleforce Boxes
4 Boxes of Lootas
After Calling GW and straightening it out they sent me an additional:
5 Boxes of Lootas
3x Killa Kans.
Which with a little bit of wargear/upgrades comes to 2500.
Hope everything works out for ya.

So how does the prize thing work?
Do you request a list of models, or do you just pick an army?
I put 6 BF worth of orks into Armybuilder and I get over 2500 easy,
with 2-10 lootas, 15 burnas from bits and boys, 6 trukk squads and 3 units of 6 bikes.
Not a list with any HS but theres still a lot of boys models to work with.
I don't get where there was a need to finagle more models from GW.
Maybe they were hoping all the freebies would influence winners to spend a little cash in
return for the massive prize support . the above list of prizes before the addl stuff was over $600 retail.
You call them and get an addl $200+.
And to play in 'Ard Boys, a player has to put in how much?

What armies seemed most dominant? And which army ended up winning/getting second? I'm assuming you're an eldar player (Notmatthew)?
Is there a place I can find all the results?

How'd the guy cheat you? I've known the man personally for 15 years, have never seen him cheat, and he had only compliments for your skill at the game. So why the bad mouth?

Well there was one specific incident that cost me the game not because I didn't have the models to win but because time ran out. He rolled a difficult terrain and rolled double ones and then decided after that to split an HQ out of the squad since the double ones meant the squad would be taken out. He did not do it in a malicious way, all in all he was a nice guy, but he just wasn't clear on the 5th edition HQ rules. At this point I didn't want to call a judge cause I wanted the semblance of a quick friendly game. I figured he'd return the favor by letting us play out the whole game. We only finished three turns unfortunately because we had a lot of large close combats. There was also an issue of his trucks moving when they couldn't move, but again that wasn't him being a 'cheat' as much as just not knowing the rules and I was done calling judges at that time in the night. Again, he didn't do anything to be a bad guy, just a couple iffy moves. Cheat is too strong a word and I apologize, although it didn't make sense to play so cagey since they only way one of us would make it is if we both played hard the whole game : )

I played a well rounded Ork list (as far as ork lists go) with no particular focus. Top tables were dominated by deffrolla orks, daemons, and lash I think.

He said you got some really good charges in on him, so many grats there. The only bad thing in his book was that you're from Maine. He told me he doesn't think he can live with the disgrace of being defeated by a Mainer!
I told him he should be used to it since I regularly kick his butt and I used to go to Wizards Den in Bangor.

You don't get any requests. They send you what they send you. There was no "finagling" the was an error in the order, which I found out by calling GW.
I received:
Big Mek w/ SAG 95pts
120 boyz- thats 720pts
6 Trucks- thats 180pts
18 Bikes, thats 450pts
20 lootas, thats 300 pts.
Total: That's 1745. Sure you can add wargear/upgrades, but that's still a good bit off from 2500. Again, I called GW and they said there WAS an error in the order. Someone typed it in wrong. It was promptly fixed and everything is kosher.

Well it's really at least 1945 since you would have 3 weapons and a Klaw in every group of 30 boys. And I guess if you were actually going to use Bikes every squad would have a Klaw. Still a bit shy and a very generic group of miniatures. It would have been nice if they threw in some Kans or blisters.
I seriously doubt they make a list or calculate the points, they probably actually give each winner a certain dollar worth of models.

First: Technically NotMatthew said he was robbed of victory at the last minute... someone else said cheating. You can just as easily be "robbed of victory" by duffing all your last turn dice rolls, or an exceptionally astute move from your opponent, etc.
And I think its more likely they calculate points rather than assigning a dollar value. The dollar value of 2500 points of Orks is vastly different than the dollar value of Space Marines, or Mechanized Guard, etc.
They may have an internal formula to induce an improved revenue stream after the fact... i.e. make everything basic so the winners end up spending a fair chunk of change afterwards to give those 2500 points another 1000 points in toys, bells, and whistles however- thus the homogenized list.

I would just type a letter telling the 'eavy Metal team just exactly how you want your army painted. They are very good with the details.

I guess I see all those basic boys as upgradeable, given all the extra loota/burna bits.
You can even make a few units into 'ard boyz with just the basic bits.
Maybe those models don't translate directly into a 'ArdBoyz tourney list,
but its definitely enough to make the usual fluffy GW boxed army.
But really, does anyone need 9 boxes of Lootas?
Also, I have checked GWs site, and saw it nowhere.
How much is it to enter the 'Ardboys tourneys?

That's where I started at back in the days when a guy named Arly ran it and it was in downtown Bangor. After it moved, and I think Dave took it over, Stephen King's son would come around from time to time because it was pretty much around the corner from his house.
