I always felt bad when my older siblings smeared me and tried to be the oversensitive type. I felt it was much better to have the constructive criticism and a good laugh* at some of my mistakes.

* Make sure that the laugh is mutual otherwise it's not helping your cause.

i played a game the other day with this same problem came up. I was using a drop pod army withn othing stronger then srength 8 and he was playing necrons. I did ahve a vindicator that started by iteslf bu;t that was take care of first turn by him destoying the demolisher cannon.

the rest of the game spent getting my drop pods int oposition and taking out his key units. it was funny as hell to watch my vindicator roll up and ram his monolith every cahnce it got. however i lost the game because my sternguard died in a wonderful fashin. and pedro lost in hand to hand with 3 warrios.

Now I usually win or draw against the more experienced people at my F.L.G.S. Losing sometimes helps make you a better player, winning all the time makes you cocky.

You are wise beyond your years. I know people twice your age who could learn from your example.

P.S.

Sorry but my inner grammar nazi took over and I cleaned up your post.

I've talked to my nephew about army building, sharing what limited advice I can give, and I also told him one of the great things about 40K is that you never know what you're gonna face. He cut his wargaming teeth on Warmachine, and while I love the Iron Kingdoms I always thought that one of the game's flaws was the fact that every unit of a type was exactly like every other unit of that type, ie, every group of trenchers was the same. In 40K, that squad of IG could be very different from the squad next to them. Of course, I do play the one army that can't really customize, but I want him to be ready for the other players out there.

We'll see what he brings the next time we play. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

wow that sucks. but like everyone else here has said dont feel too bad. He decided to not take SOMETHING that could pack a punch just in case. Everyone does it. next time i bet he'll remember that harsh asswhooping he got lol. the other day i played my orks against SM and i remembered just how bad ass they were last time against SM so naturally i brought a horde or ard boyz and a nice size squad or nobs with big choppas. i was ready for some clubbin! BUT the SM basically brought all dreds and termies...... SO i killed one termie and he mowed everythign i had down. it was terrible and i laughed at how awesomely bad i did. but i wont forget that again.
