since were bringing up the possibility of ultramarines I would bike to point out that many space marine characters and chapters are based on literature and history, Dante of the Blood Angels, The Raven Guard's Poesk style as a whole. From this I derive the point that the Ultamarines chaplain is named Cassius as in Gaius Cassius who along with Brutus BETRAYED EMPEROR Julius Caesar, coensidance in historic parrallel, I think not. DEATH to the vanilla marines!

Valid point, but if we're deciding loyalties based on Character names then the Dark Angels should have been declared Excommunicate by now. Even ignoring the fallen, the chapter is led by Azrael : Islamic Archangel of Death, The senior chaplain is Asmodai : demon mentioned in the deuterocanonical book Book of Tobit. Scout company Sergeant Naaman was, according to legend, a great warrior, but was afflicted with leprosy.
The chapter's only "redeeming" character, depending on your own religious perspective, is Ezekiel, chief librarian, who shares his name with a preist from the Bible.
So, after all, what's in a name ?

Nothing, per se, but from my limited understanding of the religion in question, and I'm more than open to correction, the Islamic version is a more demonic represention.
My only point was that GW drew names from a number of sources and probably didn't intend for the names to reflect the values or beliefs of the characters to which they were given.
Indeed, the name of the master of the chapter I'm creating is Azrael Kazan, chosen purely because I like the sound of it !

I always found that odd. The DA I understand (angelic names that are also referenced in more sinister contexts), but Baal? It seems like that should be the name of a great daemon prince, not a SM homeworld. Belial always seemed an odd naming choice, too.

Dear Wife, It's What's For Dinner
The best way to avoid an invitation to him is to BURN THE HERETICAL XENO! May the sanctified flame be laid down upon him and beg thanks to the Emperor that you were given the glory of victory upon your father-in-law.

Duly noted, Spleenstaba, and thank you for the correction.
On a side note, re your comment about those who only seem to know about the Ultramarines and Blood Ravens, can you remember the original 12 chapter uniforms illustrated and identified in Rogue Trader ? ( I know, I know, I'm showing my age here
Either way, almost back on topic, all the posts referring to character, chapter and planet names only illustrate the point that the name doesn't define the loyalties of the character.
As for Tigurius, I stand by my earlier post that the centuries it has taken to amass his knowledge, experience and powers, plus the rumoured boost from The Emp, have produced one of the most powerful psykers in Imperial history.
The psychic boost references also serve only to indicate that he may have been "chosen" by the Emperor for this task, hardly an accolade given to one suspected of being in league with Chaos forces.
