I put some more thought into what's been said. If I toss the obliterators, I can actually feild 2 units of 10 terminators, and I can actually feild a lot more basic chaos space marines. With the weight of numbers the list feels much more resilient (aka restoring my faith)

I have some questions, is there value in having mark of chaos on the terminators? 10pts a squad, and my list right now has 20points unspent. Do I need the mark of chaos on my 3 CSM units? Is having personal icons on the sorcerors extra redundant? I have 5 melta bombs, is my money better spent elsewhere? Is it worth it to upgrade the sorcerors to having wings or terminator armor? Should I run more combi-weapons in my terminator squads?

135 Sorceror w/ mark slannesh, lash of torment melta bombs and personal icon
135 Sorceror w/ mark slannesh, lash of torment melta bombs and personal icon
350 10 terminators w/ 2 combi meltas, 2 combi-flamers, 2 heavy flamers 2 powerfists
350 10 terminators w/ 2 combi meltas, 2 combi-flamers, 2 heavy flamers 2 powerfists
270 13 chaos marines w/ 2 x melta gun, champion w/ mark of chaos and powerfist and meltabombs
270 13 chaos marines w/ 2 x melta gun, champion w/ mark of chaos and powerfist and meltabombs
255 12 chaos marines w/ 2 x melta gun, champion w/ mark of chaos and powerfist and meltabombs
65 5 Lesser Demons (late game objective holding or grabbing)

Well, I figured that a 10 men Termie squad hardly breaks. So the IoGC might be redundant. Meltabombs are quite good if the unit comes across a tank that didn't move. But a power fist might be equally powerful. Moreover, most tanks have AV 10 and so will be hit hard in cc. So meltabombs might be redundant, too.

How do the Sorcerers act at the battlefield? They have lashes but when they join a unit, shooting will be resolved simultaneously. That means, you cannot move a unit via lash and then shoot it be the unit joined. On the other hand, a Sorcerer unsupported is dead early in the game.

I appear to be overly fearful of landraiders though I don't expect more than one to be fielded. I will ditch the meltabombs on the powerfist squad leaders.

Good observation, I can't lash and then use the reduced range to rapid fire into the lashed unit. I wasn't really thinking of that issue. Therefore my basic strategy is the sorcerers are inside whichever csm unit makes sense, they have to be supported at all costs. In comparison to my original list, I have a lot more firepower, and quite a few more models to hide those sorcerers in. So if I lose some shooting ability, its made up in resiliency (I hope)

The sorcerers will keep the melta bombs. I might need a reliable way to punch those armor 10 vehicles, assuming I hit. And then while the sorceror is solo, the separated CSM unit rain's hell on the occupants. That would be a late game maneuver where the sorcerers psychic abilities won't be needed as much.

I gather that having the demons and not adding wings or termie armor to the sorcerors is reasonable. I could see having terminator armor on the sorcerors, so that I can intercept shots that might otherwise wound a 3+ marine and probably not wound a 2+ sorcerer. its a way to abuse the 3 wounds on the sorcerers, I intend to avoid combat with them and their attached units anyhow.

I'll add more combi-weapons to the termies. We are up to 3 combi melta's, 3 combi' flamers, 2 heavy flamers and 2 powerfists. 2 Terminators will be naked, the sacrificial pawns
Probably keep the personal icons on the sorcerers, and run the IoGC on one side of the unit that the sorcerer is attached, so I can maximize the area on the board that I can deepstrike the terminators.

Haha, so much for my idea of not deepstriking my models! How's the army look now?

what do you do against mech armies? nothing you have has any decent range to be able to deal with vehicles. you will get shot to peices before you can do anything. dropping the oblits was a bad idea because now you just die as your slow moving infantry tries to get close enough to be effective.

taking up the mission

If we were to play each other in a tournament, not only would I table you, I would murder you, your family, every woman you ever loved and burn down your house. I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

Not sure I follow that Regwon. If a mech army doesn't try to close on me they can't win. If they don't close on me, I deepstrike on them. I've been dying to try a lash technique I've been thinking about... move an enemy unit to block one of their own transports filled with troops.. blow up the transport... bamn no one gets out.

But, I've got limited play experience, we'll find out a the tourny. I actually never get to play or play competitively other than tournies these days.

They will get out: emergency exit. But they can't do anything in the next turn.
