my buddy keeps telling me how good it is. My pc can't handle it though. And I don't have a 360, or anything else that it might be on.

Actually my 37" lcd monitor is my tv, I dropped one of my gaming rigs behind the tv and with wireless keyboard and mouse I'm good to go surround sound and all. My 360 mostly used for an easy device for my wife to fiddle with to watch movies/photos/music/games without being able to actually damage anything. The 360 serves as the kid safe option of my entertainment system. The PC is where the real power is plus I agree they are better for FPS/MMO/RTS, but sports/racing/flight sim I find better on console. So I've got all my tools in one place now.

One problem with console is that Valve doesn't seem to support its Xbox releases as well as its PC releases.

The game is very fun. Aside from a few odd glitches, it is very well done.

Yeah thats the other huge draw back for consoles. Lack of free content and editors enabling the community to make fun mods. Which is another reason why I mainly stick to buying PC games over any console versions of the same game.

Anyone with an nVidia 8 series card might want to wait for a performance patch before considering picking up this game, especially if you're on the low end of the system requirements.

A patch released on 1/14/09 introduced some serious bugs that seem to affect lots of people with these cards, myself included, often turning the game into a stuttering slideshow mess of a game. To make things worse, another patch was released 1/23/09 which seems to have introduced even more problems, such as interface and movement lag (some more info here: nVidia 8800 Series Performance Issues with Left 4 Dead Update 01/14/09

I think that's part of the first or second Death Toll map.

I just got this game last Thursday and spent most of the weekend blowing away zombies. It was so much fun that my wife, who is not usually a PC gamer (she's more into consoles), also got a copy and joined me.

Anyone have any suggestions for the best weapons loadout for a group to bring?

The picture of Francis hitting Zoey is a glitch that happened on Blood Harvest when they were Noclipping and she got hit by a tank's rock throw.
Zoey was literally frozen like that for the match.

Gotta give valve credit; this is the number two best Half Life 2 mod...sandwiched between Portal (1) and Team Fortress Two (3).

to all the baby pc users about the whole keyboard is better all you guys can say is its much easier to point a mouse and click hey guess what its the same for a controller you just move the joy stick just like you would a mouse so its really not better and i play on both systems so yes i know they are the same really. try playing on the 360 for 5 years and then try telling me a keyboard is better.

Im playing it on the PC i love it, except when i panic and shoot a car...i hate that. i havent played it online yet but am very much looking forward to it.

Actually I've noticed that overall Live players are usually less skilled than Steam players. Nothing to do with mouse vs stick accuracy, they just don't exploit the game mechanics as well.

My theory is that X-box players are generally casual players while PCers are more likely to be fans of Valve and have invested time in other Source games so they're in a more familar environment.

Just what's on the L4D site. Apparently it got pushed back a bit but will have the SDK and new campaign.

So some PC players cheat, therefore they all cheat/exploit. Also, the stick doesn't have the same degree of precision control that a mouse can have.

as i said before i was not bashing anyone so your really not even reading my posts and i said most pc users not all and i also said that this is what i noticed so its people who i know and play with that are like that i wasnt saying everyone. and i play with a controller on my pc so yes i would say they are about the same if not THE SAME. i wouldnt say either is better but most pc users seem to think there ways are better so go ahead and think what you will.

Calling PC players "babies" is a personal attack. If you don't see that, you don't need to be posting here on Dakka. I play Left 4 Dead almost exclusively on the XBox 360 but also have it on my PC, so I can say for a fact that the mouse gives you more granular control while aiming. While this really means that I typically get more headshots on the PC, I do just fine with the controller.

Your post is full of Fail because not only did you violate Rule #1, your use of the English language is atrocious. If you keep making personal attacks, further actions will be taken.

first of all i wasnt calling all pc players babies i said "TO ALL THE BABY PC PLAYERS" Meaning the ones that are babies, thats not calling all pc players babies so no by English i was right i didn't call every pc player babies and i also stated in my other post i wasn't bashing pc or 360 and hey guess what i have the game on both systems to and yes its the same, maybe im just better at it then most where as my miniature gaming skills are not so good. so i stand by what i said and i say sorry to anyone who isnt a baby pc players only for the fact that i didnt call every pc player a baby.
