I can see how this works. Do you deliberately pair music and film choices?

Sadly no, Scarface was On Demand and Beethoven was cued up on the iPod. They do have a have a strange dramatic synergy, though.

Nice one, Zamboni.

Trying to power through Red Mars, but I remember now why it took me
so long to read it. The only reason I finished it was because I realized its
deep influence on the game Alpha Centauri. The science is cool, the
politics are less so.

Pre-haircut Metallica

The only Metallica worth listening to.
As for myself, a nice dose of Pantera or Slayer always helps.

And, IMHO, the best band ever, Megadeth.

Also a random variety of things that I sometimes listen to, ranging from Led Zepplin to Kraftwerk to the Misfits

If I'm listening, it's mainly stuff like SOAD, Linking Park, Korn, etc. - you, know, nothing too harsh on the ears, but still hjas that metal feel. Anything else, ranging from Iron Maiden to Napalm Death distracts mee to much while painting.

Also watching Friends - got all 10 seasons on DVD for Xmas might also rent Heroes season 2 from Blockbuster.

Ever try to watch Friends and listen to Korn together? Might be interesting...

I've been painting Orkified hunks of styrofoam for terrain and listening to my Windows Media Player playlist, which now is nearly twenty whole CD's. I put it on shuffle and just let it go all day.

U usually like to have a tv show/movie on in the backround while I model/paint. My favorites for this are the Lord of the Rings series (extended versions of course, that way they're like 4 hours long lol) or the new Battlestar Galactica tv show. Lately, its been all BSG though because the last espisodes start a week from Friday so after that awesome year long break (they've done it twice now and its been annoying as hell both times lol) I need to refresh myself a bit haha.

I am listening to Protest the Hero and Every Time I Die, a mash-up of their new and old albums.

For my viewing pleasure, I'm switching between Batman and Iron Man DVDs, as well as the Between The Bured and Me: Colors Live DVD, and I'm watching The Big Bang Theory whenever I can.

So my newly painted marines are getting fed a double shot of testosterone and adrenaline, training on weapons and power armor, and important education in physics and bullet trajectory, all while remembering to have a sense of humor.

I had the Australia vs South Africa cricket test playing on my computer TV tuner this afternoon whilst doing some gobbos.

Tonight it will be the full awesomeness of Top Gear whilst I continue to paint gobbos, and make a start on some spear chukkas.

I got myself a Soul Grinder and while I've been painting it I have been listening to stuff I DVR'd over the last week. The history channel's series about the seven deadly sins and a show about Nostradamus and the supposed end of the world, which lots of people with rather questionable credentials claim is going to be on December 21, 2012, around noon if their implications are right. Probably gonna be on the way to buy my copy of 40K 6th edition, thinking to myself 'What can go wrong now" and then, .......................................

CBS.com has all the OS Star Trek episodes for viewing. Just like to listen to that in the background. Not like you actually have to be watching it, since I know we all have seen every episode a hundred times over. Just wish I could find the others online. Been to hulu.com, but they only have a few. Wish they had all of the 4th of BSG though . . .. ...

How are Penny Arcade podcasts?

I'm so slow. I got to the point in Anathem when they find out the
names of various planets. I was clueless about one of the names until
I saw it spelled out.

I need to read that book by Emile Zola.

Correct me if I'm wrong but does nobody listen to
Hawkwind anymore? In terms of tying in with Sci/fi
in general I don't think any other band come close.
I suggest the following:
Warrior at the Edge of Time
Chronicle of the Black Sword
Doremi Faso Latido
Church of Hawkwind
Space Ritual
Levitation
To name but a few.Go on,give your imagination a treat!

This Hawkwind? www.myspace.com/hawkwindlives

I've been speedpainting while listening to/watching Wolf's Rain, Speed Grapher, Memento, Man on Fire, Sin City, Dark Knight, and Aliens.

Listening is beck and lots of soundtracks: Wall*E, The Boxer, Ghost in the Shell OST4, and The Fountain OST.

It's great because it occupies the part of the higher brain that isn't involved in coordinating painting, hours go by quickly and models get painted.

I was trying to watch Cowboy Bebop actually, but I quickly realized that reading subtitles and painting aren't two activities I can do simultaneously...

Last modelling session I went through Hero, 5th element, and Advent Children. Next one I'm considering a few of the LOTR movies. I've found I like throwing on movies I've already seen a hundred times, and that I'm not particularly interested in watching. Keeps me from getting distracted.

For music, I do the same thing I do while reading/doing homework, and try to stick to instrumental/electronica rather than anything with lyrics. Again, keeps me from getting distracted.

Right now I usually have the Samurai Champloo soundtrack running, which is a lot of Nujabes, Tsutchie, and fat jon. Occasionally I'll switch over to some royksopp, or some random techno mix, with the occasional john mayer album thrown in.

I'm also super jealous of the Pandora people . Their license "no longer covers listeners in Canada." Boooooo. Now I have to use some kind of US proxy if I want to listen, which is honnestly just too much of a PITA :(
