Right now I'm listening/watching the television mini-series Lonesome Dove. They're just
getting to the point where there's no water for 80 or so miles.

edit: This is one of those "while you're painting" threads. If there's another one, let me
know. I tend to miss out on them.

So... what is this thread supposed to be about again?

If it's about a show when can I watch it? I like snow.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

Lonesome is over and I'm still figuring out how to paint some models. I think
I'll listen to some World War Z (I have about an hour left on the recording).

Music I'm currently listening to whilst painting includes Fields of the Nephilim, Front Line Assembly and The Covenant.... a mish mash of Goth, Industrial and Darkwave.

Sounds like you've got access to more than a few audiobooks. Did you purchase them as CD's, iTunes, or do you have some other access? I've never tried the audiobook approach. While painting I usually put my iTunes on random or tune into my local sports game

I'm listening to Pandora.com set to a lot of Justice, Chemical Brothers, and Daft Punk.

Occasionally I'll switch to more of a Soundgarden, Tool, Pre-haircut Metallica mix.

Audobooks are a good idea - I'll try that out.

I listen to whatever's next on my PSP.

Usually that includes Necrophagist, Psyclon Nine, Inferi, Voice of Vision, Arsis, Colombine., The Faceless, Tool, Deftones, Akira Yamaoka, Paganini, etc. A nice healthy dose of Progressive Death Metal and Industrial, with some random genres thrown in for good measure.

I paint and model for extremely long periods of time, so it's not uncommon that I go through half my playlist. Too bad a PSP can't come anywhere close to holding all of my CDs. And that's just far too much work to have to go change out a CD every time I need new music.

"And what is wrong with their life? What on earth is less reprehensible than the life of the Levovs?"
- American Pastoral, Philip Roth

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

About 5 years ago I bought a 300 disc changer for my stereo. Hit shuffle and I never know whats coming. I have about 50-60 movie soundtracks in there (all insturmental ones like all 3 Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, etc) and the rest ranges from things like SOAD, Three Days Grace, Gorillas, Tool, Anti-Flag, Rammstein, E Nomine, to techno like Orbital, Electric Skychurch, Deep Forest, and a whole bunch of names no one else has ever heard of. I also have a bit of folk in there like Seven Nations/Clan Negael, Clannad, and some local bands and some authentic ethnic music, irish, japanese, etc. You really never know what is coming up next.

I'm listening through my stash of videogame music to create several different track lists for my Roleplaying group. I also watch a lot of South Park online while painting some Orks and Zombies.

I can see how this works. Do you deliberately pair music and film choices?

That's what I've been listening to lately. Currently, I'm hung up on the music from DOOM (the original game) and Everquest (some pretty good stuff in there).

@ Malfred: how's the audiobook of World War Z? Does it add anything to the experience? I absolutely adore the print version.

I don't know if it adds (I listen to a lot of audio books) but using different actors
to match the various ethnicities represented by the speakers really lends to its
documentary feel.

Think I'll move on to something else. Anathem.

It was strange listening to it in the car. Maybe it'll be easier at home.

I've been stuck (in the best sense of the word) on listening to a randomized playlist of:

Shiny Toy Guns - Season of Poison
Kings of Leon - Only By The Night
Thrice - Alchemy Index II, III, & IV
This Will Destroy You - S/T and Young Mountain
Playradioplay - Texas
Mads Langer - Attention Please
Dredg - Catch Without Arms and El Cielo
Collective Soul - Dosage
Carpark North - Grateful
Ra - Black Sun
Silverchair - Diorama

It's pretty much the best mix I've made and I'm kinda excited about that

I've been catching up on my podcasts. Last week I listened to the last 4 episodes of Fell Calls that I'd missed, and last night I did a marathon painting session while listening to the 40k Radio Christmas special.
Really paid off too as last week I finished 21 Space Marines and 3 Assault termis, last night I almost finished my Terminator Librarian, and it turns out I won one of the space marine commanders from the 40k Radio contest!
