agreed.
Nob bikers with PK, Painboy, Cybork bodies, and a Waaagh banner ftw.
People discuss how to beat them all the time, but in order to do so you need an army tailored specifically to the task. In a tournament, that is suicide. If your list is built to beat the nob bikers, then super shooty armies will decimate you.
That said, I hate nob bikers in casual games. They are a tourney level build and have no business on the fluff field.

That is silly to say, they are integral to my Ork army (for instance). Nob Bikers give me stopping power and draw off enemy fire. Without them, I have nowhere near the strength, so to call them "tourney level" unit is nonsense. That is like saying Termies in a LR are "tourney level" or whatever. Even a twin biker list at 1.5K or 2k is fine, because the point investment is enormous. If they were cheap, then I might agree, but when I am dropping 600-800 points to field a single unit, they need to be dead killy.

No, you misinterpret my post. The "nob biker" LIST is tourney level.
2 squads of 10 bikers in cybork armor with a banner, painboy, pks and pk attack squig having boss in each squad supported by snikrot and his boyz or a variant and a few grots to hold control points.
I use them in a fluff build as well - 1 squad of 7 - but not the hard hitting tourney list.

20 Ork Nobs!
Ohh how scary! It's certainly a fun army, but if you KNOW it is what you are up against it isn't that hard to counter.
Nice army!

Honestly I'd play it for fun, I'd like to see how I would fair
Autarch on a bike with Fusion gun, Laser Lance, and madiblasters
4 Wave Serpents with BL's
6 Dragons with Exarch
Seer Council on bikes
2 Prisms
20 Guardian with 2 scat lasers (Although I'd swap those for star cannons or launchers)
10 Dire Avengers
As tough as those bikers are they dont get the waaaagh rule. Bright lances blow past FNP (still get cover and cybork) and are instants. Best strategy would be to dump my firedragons within range and unload along with all four serpents and exarch has crack shot so no cover. Other option is the Seer council with fortune and possibly mindwar on painboy. Follow with three destructors and a charge into you I'll be hitting on 4's and wounding on two's (same as you). My Autarch is str 6 on a charge with a laser lance so no FNP only cybork.
Honestly if you DON'T take cybork I'd rip through you like paper. That's your only problem is an army that's faster than you.
Other than that two squads of nobz on bikes make the baby emperor cry.
Once your opponent starts forcing you to make moral checks is when you're in trouble.

Really, if you are looking for practice with this list I'll take you on with my Tournament Deathwing list.
This is probably one of the hardest lists out there to beat. It's very fast, tough (12 wounds to kill one model), deadly in cc (vs. all but terminators), and even puts out some decent shooting.

I'm sorry, LucasLAD, all I see in that list is "2 scat lasers" and I just can't stop laughing.

For a tournament, I would take a more balanced and more powerful list. The new Orks are so powerful I find that the lists "play themselves" and I was looking for a thematic list that would be an interesting challenge because it wouldn't have the perfect counter for every situation. Orks always have trouble wih armor 14 vehicles.
-Chris, I will try to have my Freebooter Biker list up for the CalPoly Winter Convention, but you know me, I hate playing with unpainted minis and I have lots of converting to do. I'm almost finished with my Wazdakka conversion. He has a wartrak with a plastic panzer model engine, the new warboss body, and an Empire Helblaster on the front. I still need an ammo feeding unit and some turbo rockets for the back

Actually Sternguard_rock you can only field bikers as troops if you take Wazdakka, not just any warboss on a bike.
On Topic:
I've started running Tyrannids and I can say i'm not to scared of this list. I've got 4 ST8 ordinance and 4 ST9-10 Carnies, not to mention all the other shots so with all the instant kills and no feel no pain's I think I could take them, though i'd have to be careful.

As far as I'm concerned legal and fair are one in the same in 40k. That being said, I'm not really too scared of this list. As a Salamanders player I bring Terminators, Vindicators, and a crapton of melta weapons to deal with this sort of thing.

I agree but my question was more about the fairness than the effectiveness. Is this an army that you would enjoy playing against?
no. having one unit would be kinda sorta okay, but having two nearly invulnerable, mobile units is too much.
based on GT 2008 scoring the best score you would receive from me is an 8 (out of 10). -1 for bringing an army based only to win. -1 because I would not play you again.
good luck and take care
