I though the locator beam only works for "teleporting" and the gate is deepstriking not teleporting so they don;t work together.

no, it works for all units that deepstrike, including pods and jump packs.

You are thinking of the teleport homer, which only works for teleporting squads.

So with the GoI deepstriking Termies on a Locator Beacon one would still have to wait the turn before assault, due to deep-strike rules? If this is the case one would have to think twice about GoI on a shooty squad w/ Assault Terminators.

Its all about the termie delivery system.. somthing I mentioned earlier.

Now besides moving up so fast that thier a lone/prority target.. this wouldnt be so good, but the only other options you have is footslogging (slower, more chances to be shot at), teleporting (same issues as GoI but its only a 4+ on turn two, rather than a definete) or landraider delivery which is expensive.

I was just looking over the new SM codex yesterday and finally realized both chaplains and librarians are now I4. They are in a lot of trouble if they get into close combat with anything remotely decent in assault. The gate is okay but realizing just how weak is this character there is no way I would field one now.

No, start the termies and libbys on th eboard, out of LOS. Then, turn one in your movement phase, teleport to the bikers. Don't go into reserve.

and the libby isnt so hot in CC, but that is ok, keep him surrounded by his buddies so he doesnt engage. Then you GOI out of combat next turn.

I apologize, I missread your response, yes, you would have to wait to assault, but like you said, take shooty termies. Pop in, drop two heavy flamer templates, 8 storm bolters and a vortex of doom from the libby. Then, anything that counter assaults still has to face 10 power fists, which is not joke.

If a mob of orks assaulted the squad they would be able to target the librarian.

Its steals a HQ choice but its 100pts to add in a decent transport system for the termies.. there other options are either a LR, teleporting or footslogging. Having 200pts worth turn up turn 5, assault, maybe, turn 6 isnt likely but neither it is nice.

Keep the libarain out of base contact with the nobz and he'd be fiiine against orks. Unless there was 20+

The Librarian is very tactical with the gate but I am used to fielding them back when they excelled in assault. Another plus is the psychic hood. Would I field one now... No but I can easily see why others would.

Don't orc bikes grant a cover save, not an invulnerable save?

Build a fire for a man and he will be warm for a day; set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain.

Sly Marbo doesn't go to ground, the ground comes to him.

The Warbikes grant a 4+ cover save all the time, and a 3+ cover save when turbo-boosting, in a addition to granting a 4+ armor save.

If their squad contains a painboy they may also be upgraded with cybork bodies, which give them a 5+ invulnerable save. (They also get Feel No Pain from the painboy.)

Thus, Null Zone is more useful in close combat than for shooting.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.
