Another dice atheist here. Though I'll probably pick up some custom Chessex to match my army eventually.

I only use similar colored dice to keep track of the numbers of dice that I use. You can
see how I count because I set them in piles of five. Note that this was mostly to facilitate
dice rolling for Wardancers in hand to hand combat using Whirling Death (or whatever it's
called).

I would suspect there's a high correlation between believing your superstition can 'fix' your dice rolling, and blaming your dice on any losses.

If you think your dice are rolling exceptionally poorly, it may be your circumstances and not the dice themselves that are the problem. Broaden your scope, accept responsibility, learn from your mistakes!

Or keep hunting witches...

Hmmm wasn't there a thread a week or two ago where somebody proved that GW's dice rolled more ones than they should?

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Nothing with the dice, but our three Leman russes's machine spirits hate me (more than the camera's and all those sewing machines's). Those damn things just keep failing me. Father or little brother uses leman russ: always stays whole to a greater or lesser extent.
Me using leman russ: will be smoking within the space of the first four turns. I swear to you, It Is True.

Oh, and the evening before a eldar vs imperial apocalypse battle, I snuck a doom note into the hull of the baneblade. Baneblade unfortunately (sniff/sarc) did not survive encounter. Eldar and me therein won battle.

I used to have a few Dice superstitions but after working in casinos for 11 years I have a better understanding of how the laws of probability and outcome work.

Now I have even more superstitions

What is true though is my brother (craps dealer for 20 years now) has a superstition about not trusting any die that's not perfectly balanced (e.g. craps dice). So for various games that we may play we're always using those big red Casino dice.

those metal dice are not good. they do not roll very good and it would be very easy to roll them in a less then honorable way.

I'll blow on them when I have a crucial roll to make. I've also threatened them with a hammer after some abysmal games.

In the ring! Oh Yeah!

The Macho Dice know better than to cross the Macho Man! That's right brothers, the Macho Man made an example of one of his dice and suplexed it off the wargame table and right into another table purposely put there for the Macho Man to suplex an ill-behaving dice into! The rest of those Hulkamania-lovin' dice get right back in line with the Macho Madness when that happens!

Oh yeah!

I use just standard GW black dice, but I have this crazy silver-blue one I use for super-important stuff. If any but ol' blue consistently fail me, well... I draw a firearm and tell them: "For cowardice in the face of the enemy, I sentence you to death!" My FLGS is not so appreciative of the holes in their tables.

Whenever I buy a new box of dice (especially Chessex), I roll them all together. I then take all the sixes and start placing them in a circle around the other dice. I then roll again with all the dice that didn't roll sixes in the first place. All sixes goes into the circle. When there is only one left, I take a mallet and smash the offending die to pieces right in front of all the other dice.

It seems to work.

Has anyone here gone for the Chessex custom dice? If so, waht symbols did you pick and how did it turn out? I'm thinking of getting some with my (D-I-Y) Sept symbol on the '1' side, but would want to see/hear some experience before dropping major scratch on dice.

Yep.

I bought my buddy about 30 for his Birthday. Had a customized Chaos Star on the "6" side.
For the first month or 2, they rolled INCREDIBLE. Probably 1.5 to 2 times as many 6's as average and a boatload of 4's & 5's, too. After a couple months, they cooled off and are now rolling overall average (but still more 6's than should be).

They're very well made and look good. The guy in charge (I forget his name) has an EXCELLENT eye for choosing the right dice for you, if you give him an idea of what you're looking for.

I recommend it highly!

I've managed to prevent any superstitions in myself, while instilling them in my fellow players at the FLGS:

-by mentioning that my scatter die is lucky, and bringing every hit to their attention, they are now convinced it is possessed. As a daemon player, it's been complained about pretty regularly. With a new Guard army on the horizon, my friends are terrified of the prospect of so many crack shot tank commanders
