Heres a tip, go to Bomgarrs or Menards or Lowes and get a can of rust-oleum paint, black is good for blue, take it home, hold model 12" away from can (arms legth) and spray sparingly (you can cover with black later); let that dry and once it is, brush paint (watered down) onto model part you want that color (ex blue legs= ultramarine blue, metal= boltgun metal etc.) After this, go back over model to make nice neat color patches. Continue until happy and then do details.
Another tip is to use flat colors for non-armor surfaces and at most semi-gloss for armor. In my experience this helps alot to make the different sections of model look different.
Just a thing: don't just ignore stuff like this, all of this I learned the hard way, losing about $60 of models in the process. And another thing, don't try to strip models, you will most likely end up ruining them. Get new ones.
Good attempt and keep it up.

This is the single worste line of advice I've ever heard. It is fine to strip paint off models as long as you use the correct product.
I swear by simple green. I've left metal and platic models soaking for over 2 weeks and have never had anything damaged. Anyone who tells you to spend cash on minis over stripper is talking

I know that you can use practically any paint, but should I scrunge up the cash and order some citadel paints.
Car model paints are fine to start with - I would recommend getting some undercoat first.
You need a flat black, flat white or flat grey spraypaint (FLAT is the most important bit). This will give you an even surface that absorbs your paint nicely.
After that, yes, citadel paints would be good - the general model paints are made to go over a large flat surface well. Miniature paints are made for small detail work.
From a photos perspective, you are better off not posting pics like the last two - no-one can see anything about them and they hurt the eyes from being so blurry.
Keep at it, and you will continue to improve.
All the best.

If you're not even going to take 5 minutes to prime them, don't even bother buying them in the first place. If you can't take the effort to prime them, it's obvious that you don't give a gak, so stop trying to pretend like you do.

I don't see where he says he's not bothering to prime them. He hasn't. We don't know why.

We don't know why. I possesed no primer at the time, and really wanted to get them painted, so I just skipped that step. Apparently, a sin, and a bad idea. Fafnir: If it means that much to you, my bad.I used the resources at hand, and am quite happy with the results. ALos, sorry about those last pics. They looked better on the camera. I now know better. Also I do give a sh it, why do you think I converted and painted them in the first place?

I would focus on just painting in the lines to start. Prime your models, use MUCH thinner paint, and paint each part the color it should be. I am also confused about your scout sarge as he doesn't look much like a scout at all. Is he a SM with some sort of combat shield? I don't want to discourage you but you should start out simpler, with the correct supplies, and bother with converting once you have some basic painting down.

Thats actually my Chaplain that I converted. he's called the Shield of Rendog, and that why he uses a shield. Sorry if it caused any confusion.
